Why doesn't Obama just come out and say it?
Here's what Obama needs to say:

"The Republicans are trying to hurt the economy in order to hurt my reelection chances in 2012. This fake, Republican-generated debt ceiling crisis is just one instance of this.

Mitch McConnell said himself that the number one goal of the Republicans was to make sure I'm not reelected in 2012. Jobless Americans are not the main concern of Republicans. The Republicans haven't passed a single jobs bill since they seized control of the house. Does it look like they're concerned about jobs? The main concern of Republicans is to try and hurt me."

The truth is inescapable.

1. The only reason he wouldnt do that
Is if he saw an opportunity to use the phony debt ceiling "crisis" for his own purpose.

Without it trying to cut any part of SS or Medicare would be political suicide.

2. Because that would make him sound egotistical, which would piss people off.
Particularly the people whose livelihoods are in danger because of this thing.

3. That would be great.
It would also mean that he would have to speak more plainly than he normally does...

That would be a horrible thing for him to do, politically speaking.

He would come off as a whiner, and he would look very weak.

It needs to be said, but not by Obama himself.

It has to be surrogates.

6. Obama is not *now* a candid communicator
Sometimes he comes across perfectly, such as on the night after Bin laden was killed.

But he is not coming out and talking to ordinary people in a persuasive winning manner.

5. I think that those who are paying even the least bit of attention know
that - O has referenced McConnell's statement several times.

The ones who won't see it are those who hate Obama anyway, and saying it plain as day wouldn't change their minds.
