1. There should be no more doubt that she is pleased with the plan.
And the President.

6. I think she stood aside because she wants the agency to succeed.
Republicans made it clear they didn't want her to head it.

It's almost tragic. But hearing her, I feel like we have a strong advocate. This is the first night in years that I've felt like we have fight in us.

12. I'm guessing both are the truth.
And by stepping aside, she makes the agency a real possibility, versus a stonewalled wreckage.

7. A stretch of an assumption, imo. Apparently recommended the appointee and chose not to be a nominee.
Seems as though much of the "Obama passed over Warren" spin is just that. Spin. Saw them both, together, in today's announcement.

I hope she takes a Senate run against Brown.

9. Elizabeth Warren said.....

"I want to be clear, the reason I cannot run this agency is because of those people. They've made it perfectly clear they will not let the agency go forward if I'm there, fine. I can step away from this."

11. Just tell us what you think the truth is then. That's all you need to do instead of calling me a
liar. She said herself that the republicans didnt want her. But then the Republicans said they dont want anyone to be the head.

17. Well,
Republicans are scary!

Obviously, the President does whatever they say. No doubt the only reason the CFPB exists is because Republicans told him to create it.

They probably told Elizabeth Warren to pick Richard Corday just so the President could nominate him.

Why is the President so afraid of Republicans?

18. Your sarcasm so noted. But apparently the Dem's think the Republicans are scary. They have been
getting pushed around for over a decade.

Whether Pres Obama is doing all he can or all he wants doesnt matter. We are dying as a democracy and unless someone does something, we are done.

19. Hmmmm?
"We are dying as a democracy and unless someone does something, we are done."

In case you haven't noticed, someone is trying to do something.

The OP is about establishing the CFPB. Do you consider that doing something?

20. I acknowlege that the President is doing something. But I dont think it's
enough to slow down the momentum to a fascist state. When I think of Tim Geitner, Summers, Ben Bernanke, William M. Daley, and Immelt, Alan Simpson, Dave Cote, Jeb Bush, Robert Gates, Gen Stanley McChrystal, i cringe. These are not the people I want running the country. Elizabeth Warren was a wonderful change. And now she is gone.

I certainly don't want those people running our country either

But I don't see Elizabeth Warren being "gone." Granted, she won't be heading up the agency, but she seems absolutely confidant in the administrations choice.

If she decides to run for the Senate then she can have a much needed impact (IF she decides to run).

If things play out the way I hope they do (Cordray as an aggressive advocate; Warren as an aggressive Senator) this could be an advance for progressives.

I hope that's the way it works, but we still have to fight the Repub's efforts to turn the agency into a toothless, voiceless watchdog.

Edit: spelling... :dunce:
