If Obama Agrees to Cuts in SS and Medicare WITHOUT Immediate Tax Hikes, Then He Should Be Primaried |
|
and I will no longer support him. No more money from me. No more work. Nothing. I will use my money, time, and energy to support other true Progressives like Grayson, Russ Feingold, and hopefully Elizabeth Warren in Mass.
The money I had pledged to Obama's re-election will now go to the recall efforts in Wisconsin.
That is a horrible, epic cave in to Republicans because he knows damn well that they WILL NEVER, EVER raise taxes in the future. It just won't happen.

1. Yes, it has to occur at the SAME TIME |
|
No closing loopholes in the FUTURE. No eliminating Bush tax cuts on millionaires in the FUTURE. If the SS, Medicare, Medicaid cuts happen NOW, then the taxes happening NOW too.
I agree, if this isn't done, then it is not a compromise. The Republicans get everything THEY want. How are we to know that the tax increases will NEVER happen?
Yes, primary challenge if doesn't happen. Personally, I would draft BERNIE, or someone with his you know what.

anyway. So basically Dems would be giving into cuts to the big 3 in exchange for what exactly? Nothing.
I will just stop voting if this goes through. I'm so disenchanted with the political process.

You will not be able to get health insurance when you are old, unless you're a billionaire. Those programs are literally life lines for millions of Americans. Without them, people will die.

They have to cover you because the Affordable Care Act says they have to. And let's not forget, that was a "big fucking deal".
Never mind that you'll have to pay thousands of dollars a month, on a limited, presumably retiree budget to get that insurance, which will likely cover next to nothing. You'll be insured!! That's the important thing.
Well, I take that back. The important thing is that Obama gets lots of credit for being bipartisan and reasonable and "historic" and grand. Clearly that's what's really important. But you get the idea.

The only legitimate changes to SS and Medicare are to make it better.
The American People want these programs. It is up to our Government to make these programs better and sustainable. Any one who messes adversely to these programs should be run out of office and tarred and feathered.

|
Obama should be talking about how UNEMPLOYMENT, the WARS, and TAX BREAKS FOR THE RICH have added to the deficit. Such massive omissions to the debate make the entire debate an outright lie.

13. Too late for a primary challenge |
|
No one who shares your views has stepped up and assembled a campaign and it'll never happen now. An incumbent is hard enough to defeat in a general election and no one in their right mind will spend the money and time to collect a few protest votes in a challenge. Though it would be an effective point that many democrats are unhappy with a president who isn't far enough to the left, it's an expensive point to make.
Now your only choice is to withhold support and your vote in 2012 and hope a Republican president will appease liberals and carry out a progressive term of office. You aren't alone, many democrats are working on the same well thought out plan.

A democratic Primary gurantees Romney or bachmann In the white House come January 20 2013.Sorry but no President In recent history has faced a primary challenge and won
Johnson dropped out after primary challenge In 1968
Ford just barely held off Reagan In 1976 and lost to Carter
Carter had primary challenge from Kennedy and lost to Reagn In 1980
Bush beat out a challenge from Buchanan In 1992 and lost to Clinton
A primary challenge weakens the Democrats. And we face a nightmare sceniro of Romney or Bachmann elected preisdent,Republicans keeping the house with Bohener or Cantor as Speaker, and Republicans taking the senate with Mcconnell as Majority Leader.Just Imagne the damage that will be done to the country under this.

You minimize the disaster of republican rule. How soon we forget what eight years of a Texas Governor in the White House wrought for the country. Is Obama really on that same level?
I understand your anger, but to state that Obama is no better than anyone in the current line-up of Republican candidates is astounding.

and he no longer has to consider reelection and throwing Democratic voters a few crumbs, that he won't move even further to right. I don't trust him and I don't trust that he won't do as much damage as any Republican.

He has flipflopped to a conservative Republican.Anything the Republican Congress passes he will sign.He will support the Ryan Plan. He will appoint antiGay and Antichoice judges to the courts and the Supreme court.More tax cuts for the wealthy and more gutting on social programs with Increase In Defense spending. We will be headed towards another economic meltdown.
