2. Haven't seen it yet, but it sounds fun.

I will say this, words don't carry much weight with me unless backed up by actions. This goes for Obama, Kucinich, you, me...everyone.

Having said that, words alone can have their place, especially when delivered from a position of power, and it sounds like Obama unloaded in his speech, so I'm hoping to catch a video of it before the evening is out. Nothing would cap off a hot, stressful week better than seeing some Republicans get hammered for a bit on national tv. :)

But this was not just another glorious stem-winding, teleprompter-guided stream of rhetorical flourish. This was POTUS speaking with passion, from the gut. And he set his sights, in a hardcore visceral way, on the GOP. Watch it.

8. He was obviously pissed with Republican posturing and said so.

Set the budget deal(s) in broad, but clear terms. Short on specifics, which is the norm with this stuff. Made some pointed statements about federal safety nets, though. And put it right to the Republican House that they are walking away from a basic responsibility to their offices, their constituents and the country. Boehner caved to the right wing extremists, bailed on discussion and Obama called him on it.
Good to see, imo.
