CNN Poll - Percentage Of People Saying President Obama Is Too Liberal Goes Up!
From 36 percent to 38 percent in the same poll that many on this board are citing to show that the number of people saying he is not liberal enough has gone up from 7 percent to 13 percent.

http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2011/images/07/22/obama.aproval.pdf

Now, while some folks will dismiss the 38 percent number while also citing the 13 percent number, this just goes to show just how dysfunctional our media and government is that the number of people saying that President Obama is too liberal and not liberal enough both goes up.

1. Good point. Yet 84% of liberals want him renominated. Obma supporters are a smart bunch.

6. Still, you are talking a consistent 40 percent or so who still see him as too liberal...
...Also, pretty stupid?

Also, I should remind you of the DU rules:

11. That "you" doesn't apply to you personally, unless you fit the label. Which would be stupid.

58% Think he's ok, or not liberal enough. 38% (which I imagine is right about the percent of registered republicans plus a little) think he's too liberal. However, those on the left are going to feel a great deal of pressure to approve rather than disapprove, because we know that his approval rating, like it or not, can be a factor in his effectiveness vs. Republicans. They don't even ask you the question unless you answer the previous yes/no question ("approve or disapprove?") in the negative, so most people on the "left" won't know they have that option at all. These statistics cannot be directly compared in any meaningful way, knowing that bias in the poll is absolutely certain, and probably very large.

Now that I know my first impression of what you wrote was true (damn that "benefit of the doubt" b.s.), what's your point, exactly? That Republicans still don't like Obama? Or that the mainstream media is biased (BIASED!!!!!11) because it failed (for once?) to trumpet a statistically meaningless change in one particular answer to one followup question on a poll?

5. Most Americans don't know what "liberal" means. Re: SS/Medicare --
That's on major problem to look out for when looking at these polls. There are many who think, "Obama is a mean socialist who is taking money away from Social Security and Medicare to fund all his socialist programs." As idiotic as we know that statement is, that's unfortunately what many people think. The vast majority of people love SS and Medicare, even "conservatives" who are "against government spending," and Obama really needs to be seen as the one who is protecting them from GOP assaults. That will be key in 2012.

10. Alerting.
If you want liberals to support you, bashing them for being liberal *might* not be the best way to do it.

14. RW media is to blame for that "too liberal" number.
Anger, impatience, ignorance, naivety are to blame for that "not liberal enough" value.

15. You can read posts all over the internet
where someone claims Obama is a communist.

It's pretty common for people to completely misunderstand the terms liberal, socialist and communist. Besides, liberal has a different meaning depending on the context. Additionally there is the entire effort by the right wing to confuse the citizenry about the meaning of liberal.

I would like to know what they think Obama is too liberal about. Maybe he allows his puppy to pee on the floor. I can't think of a single thing where he is even slightly liberal. The suggestion that Obama is too liberal is utterly ridiculous.

17. Did you make note that the 38% 'too liberal' group is one point
away from the 'Republicans would do better' group which was 39%? Is it really shocking that Republicans think a Democrat is too liberal? It is not shocking to me at all.
