1. Obama has a history
Of being passionate about something and then not so passionate a few days later...extension of the Bush tax cuts is a good example...

12. So explain to me again
Edited on Mon Jul-25-11 12:50 PM by shellgame26
how UI was gonna get passed without compromising with Boehner? I just love how you folks just like to forget that the repubs have the majority in the house. Facts don't stand a chance when you're addicted to whine.

$57b. for the peons vs. $800b for the richest americans.

explain to me again why obama couldn't take his case to the public and try to get a better deal.

21. HA
Look what happens (now) when he takes his message to the public! He is rejecting any deal that does not include taxing the rich and if he had accepted a deal YOU ALL WOULD BE SAYING HE CAVED. You know very well he had no other choice but to extend UI benefits.
Instead of directing your anger at THE REPUBLICANS you spit, hurl invectives and twist yourself into a pretzel at the one who is fighting for us.

Would take balls.

And a desire to not screw over people poorer than you. That's a bit of a sticky wicket, isn't it?

3. Ed's just expressing the fear that nearly all of us are feeling...
Whether it is media exaggeration or a real threat in terms of Obama's intent, we are not wrong to be concerned that the farm is about to be given away--for nothing.

I've said little about this whole clusterF..k in the making as I want to hold out hope that Obama is being strategic and infinitely "smarter" than his RETHUG opponents. I REALLY want to believe that..... So, I hold onto that hope. But Ed is expressing what lies in my deepest fears.

4. I agree. Fear needs a voice when we all are uncertain...
and I can see Ed's point. We know he is definitely for the people. We know Ed is also a very passionate guy. We all wish his fears were not necessary.

But hope is never unchallenged.

5. I have not listened or watched him lately.
I understand what makes us different than the repugs is our willingness to disagree when we are unhappy with our leaders but it is still an emotional issue and I wish he would be a little less strident in his tone. I am not saying he is wrong, or right and it doesn't bother me when Rachael does it. Ed, however, seems to revert back to a scorched earth republican take on it.

I know you are not supposed to kill the messenger, but there is nothing wrong with turning him off.

That whoe "THE BIG THREE" thing is irritation. he has a habit of naming things like that and can't seem to stop harping on them.

27. You have to hammer home "the propaganda"
Seriously though, if you want to make something stick in the vapid American consciousness, it has to be short, simple and repeated endlessly.

The Rethuglicans are masters of this. Endless repetition of lies, and the public buys it!

23. AMAZES ME that Half of DU refuse to ever consider that Democrats can be Corrupt too...
truly astonishing. Half of you DUers think Obama is a true progressive for the people and can and never has done anything against that....the true democrat at heart.
Ed Schwultz is on the peoples side, not democrats or republicans....so if Democrats become corrupt for corporate cash like ALL republicans are then he will call them out on it. I see nothing wrong with that. But for many of you its blasphemy...truly astonishing because this is the very same thing we make fun of, of republicans. You are doing the same thing. We are suppose to be the party of thinkers, not followers. I question that with posts like these.

This is why true progressive speakers like Cenk Uyugur and Ed Schwultz cant last on cable because its people like you that refuse to hear the whole truth. You just wanted it one sided so you can feel good about democrats and feel disgust with republicans. Did you ever stop to think that maybe democrats can be corrupt too?

24. I've had that reaction to Ed more and more lately.
I'm glad he has a podium. I'm glad his view is heard. But on issues like the current negotiations, I don't think Ed really has a strong enough grasp on political strategy or the issues involved to offer insightful commentary.
