Republicans have abandoned Christianity.
Many of the angriest republicans do not have one thought of Jesus teachings in their head. John Boehner and Paul Ryan are a disgrace to Christianity, they are Catholics who favor the rich and look out for the welfare of the wealthy, while giving little thought to the least amongst us. You can not call yourself a christian if you look out for the corporations and the wealthy and forget the poor.
Stop with the, we are a Christian nation when you act like you do.

Bless me father for I have sinned, My sin is I am a Republican that is all..

For your penance, read the New Testament, and be a Republican no more.

1. It is easier to get a camel through a needle's eye
than it is for a rich person to get into heaven,
or for a repuke to care about anyone but the rich.

2. Paul Ryan is a self desribed Randian Objectivist
Was he raised Catholic? So what. He promotes Rand, who sought the end of religion openly and loudly. One can not be both a Catholic and an Randian. Ryan hands out Rand's books to his staff as required reading.

3. They were never Christian in the first place.
The teachings of Jesus are anathema to them, and always have been. The modern GOP illustrates exactly what Marx meant by religion as the "opiate of the masses."

4. Repukes have never been Christian, but they turned Christian churches into evil GOP meeting houses
And as a result, I no longer respect Christian churches.

7. So, you lump all Christian churches together regardless?
My guess is that there may be thousands of DUers and certainly millions of good Democrats who go to Christian churches that are not evil GOP meeting houses.

8. I'm angry at churches for not speaking up AGAINST the wrongs being done by churches
By becoming the right arm of the right wing, they brought this country down. And no one spoke loudly out against them. No one wanted to be the one, so any Christians who disagreed with the wrongs they were doing, kept silent rather than be accused of not being Christian.

16. Umm, I'm not welcome at local Ministerial Association meetings, precisely because
I do speak out against these policies, and for lgbt rights (only pastor for miles around who'll officiate at same-sex weddings), etc. I'll try to be loud enough for you to hear me.

6. Part of them must know it's make believe.
Anyway, doesn't it all get forgiven?

True Christians will forgive them. False Christians will support them. It's a perfect system.

9. Let's stop buying into their template of Christian = Moral
The history of Christian crusades, inquisitions and witch trials tells us a completely different story. Maybe the Republicans simply ARE being Christians - at least Christians of the stripe that brought us the aforementioned atrocities.

Don't forget that most of the worlds problems are attributable to organized religion and Christianity has arguable the worst record of any of them.

18. They can't abandon something they never were.
They aren't Christian, they merely co-opted the name in order to sway votes. Kind of like those businesses that display scripture and have those fish emblems in their ads to draw you in so they can rip you off.

25. Since this is supposed to be a secular country anyway, I guess they can abandon Christianity if they
want to. That's the First Amendment for you. But of course I know what you are saying. They are hypocrites for professing Christianity when in practice they are anything but. I agree with you.

28. The republcan party is a cult
The GOP is a cult where money has replace GOD as the object of adulation.

Ironically, the bible states hundreds of times that the love of money is the root of all evil, hence by the bibles definition, they are satanists.
