CNN finally gets a clue -- "Political extremes calling the shots?"
Political extremes calling the shots?
By: CNN Political Correspondent Jim Acosta

Washington (CNN) - Who's really in charge up on Capitol Hill? House Speaker John Boehner or people like Joe Walsh? Not the guy from The Eagles. U.S. Rep. Joe Walsh, R-Illinois, is one of dozens of new tea party-backed House Republicans who are pushing the Speaker for steep cuts to entitlements and federal spending in exchange for an increase to the debt ceiling.

Walsh blames President Obama for bringing the country to the brink. But he is also candid that he and other Republicans will be partly to blame if the nation goes into default.

"If we do default it will be all of our faults," Walsh said in an interview with CNN. On Tuesday, Walsh's office said the congressman opposes Speaker Boehner's plan to reduce the deficit.

Like many of his fellow GOP upstarts, Walsh is vehemently opposed to the President's agenda. Walsh posted a video on his House website that accused the President of misleading senior citizens about the possibility that Social Security checks could be delayed if the U.S. hits the debt ceiling.

"President Obama, quit lying," Walsh said in the video.

12. Every time Anderson Cooper reports the GOP doing something slimy...
...he says, 'but the Democrats do it too'. Or 'both sides are doing it.'

They flat out lie now. I dont bother watching that channel any longer.

Not Leveling with Viewers
Josh Marshall | July 26, 2011, 1:59PM

It's been said many times. But it's never enough: the conventions of journalistic 'objectivity', as currently defined, frequently make journalists violate their biggest duty, which is honesty with readers. The top headline running now on CNN reads: "They're all talking, but no one is compromising, at least publicly. Democratic and GOP leaders appear unwilling to bend on proposals to raise the debt ceiling."

By any reasonable measure, this is simply false, even painfully so. It might be right to say they are not agreeing, that's demonstrable. But I don't think any observer -- one who has actually watched the specifics of the debate -- honestly believes that neither side is compromising. Indeed, even the firebreathers on the Republican side aren't suggesting this. Their argument is that the nature of the 'crisis' is so great that there can be no compromise on their basic demands. That is what it means when they say they will not support any new taxes as part of a global deal.

================

ridiculous. so not wanting Social Security or Medicare cuts are "extremes" for you? now i understand why you characterized Dan Choi's wanting equality as Veruca Salt's "i want my oompa loompa now!!!"
