Jared Bernstein said something interesting today |
|
Edited on Tue Jul-26-11 07:40 PM by Armstead
Bernstein (former economic advisor to Joe Biden) said on MSNBC he thinks (hopes) it's possible that after this debt ceiling stuff is settled Obama might turn to the real economy, and propose a set of important initiatives like infrastructure work, and various other initiatives to get the economy going and putting people to work.
He added (paraphrased) "I really hope he does these things because that's what the country really needs right now. Of course, he wouldn't get any if of it through Congress, but even fighting for these things is important."

6. Yeah, that when you step outside the beltway, the concern |
|
is jobs. Don't know why they just don't get that in their bubble. I understand that if we default, creating jobs will be even harder, but boy, it seems to have fallen off the radar lately.

7. I wish he was advising Obama. I read he left because although |
|
Biden is more liberal, he realized the Administration would be moving in a different direction than what he liked. :(

10. Yeah, but I'm not sure those messages get through. They |
|
are so buried under stuff that I'm not sure they look beyond their circle of advisors. Not sure they have the time. Ideally, your advisors would present all options, but it's got to be limited somewhat.
Says gateley, DC insider. :eyes:
Hope you're right and that it was heard loud and clear! :hi:

11. Hey I got an idea why not scream at Boehner and the Repugs in the |
|
House to come up with a jobs bill? What's that you say?...They don't have time...but isn't that what they ran on?
We can prove they have not introduced one bill but they have managed to get more people on the unemployement line.
