. . .I say don't post it anymore. Those who ask for it NEVER acknowledge anything on the list and/or diminish the accomplishments by declaring they were watered down, too late, etc. When someone asks for the list IGNORE THEM. I have not seen ONE FUCKING PERSON who asks for the list ever respond "oh gee thanks, I didn't know, those are some good accomplishments, etc." it is always "that doesn't count, too late, he compromised too much,. . ."

If someone asks for the lists they are not really interested in looking at it, they are just waiting for an opportunity to put said list down.

1. I am as sick of the constant cheerleading as I am of the constant bashing. Both are a waste!

3. All part of a discussion board.
I think people get too worked up over the "cheerleaders" and the "bashers". It's just a discussion board. Sit back and enjoy the ride.

4. I, too, think there's a happy medium. While I'm pissed at Obama for many things
I appreciate all the good that he has done.

The problem is that it seems that there are extremes on both sides, sadly!

7. There's nothing "dumb" about the lists
It's the willful ignorance of them that's an issue.

But if you see one, try not reading it.

9. One example of something dumb on a list:
Listed as an Obama accomplishment that the numbers of persons in US jails has gone down for the first time in decades. No evidence was offered that Obama was responsible for this reduction. Don't you think that's dumb?

10. It depends on the source and the rationale for the claim.
Accomplishments roll upward. If there were some policies enacted by the President or his administration that brought about the reduction in incarcerations, why not?

12. I agree, but the only source was a website that
listed it as an accomplishment without offering any evidence that Obama's policies brought about the reduction.

Another example from a different list: listing a small anti-poverty program, barely funded, as the "first major federal anti-poverty program in decades." The over-inflation of the achievement was absurd.

11. They are releasing thousands of people in jail for minor crack
possesion. Remember the phony war on drugs...

Considering the people that got caught with cocaine served less or no sentences compared to crack.
Yea, I would say that's significant.

16. Thx, but that plan hasn't been implemented yet, has it?
I'm not saying that Obama hasn't done something good to reduce prison populations. My complaint is that the list just asserts that he has without supporting evidence.

22. Not bloody likely.
I hear tell of a list in preparation that contains things that happened BEFORE Obama's birth, and things that will happen AFTER his death and re-birth.

I'm sure it won't be ignored. That's for sure!

14. I thought Obama had nothing to worry about in 2012.
Surely, his victory in 2012 isn't in doubt....is it?

And if you don't think he's going to lose, isn't your post here a tad melodramatic?

15. One thing that I'll never claim is to know with all certitude what may happen....
Edited on Wed Jul-27-11 03:35 AM by FrenchieCat
and based on the number of folks who will shit on anything this President says or does
that isn't to their liking, I wouldn't avoid betting on the spite of folks preferring
to see everything be totally fucked up for a lousy ass pat on the back and the grand
ability to wag a finger in righteousness.

It isn't seldom that personal satisfaction can overtake someone's common sense... which is
how Republicans get their base to support them; by getting them to irrationally
hate the opposition personalities and making them mad enough to vote against their own
best interest. I don't overestimate or understimate the capacity of stupid,
but I know it is a quality that can be found in way too many.

That's my thinking too.

Screw 'em if they can't deal with annoying facts that counter the meme that POTUS sucks.

21. I am very often critical of President Obama, but I have found many items on the list
to be very good.

Many DUers may not be interested in honest debate, but some of us are. I do my best to base my opinions on facts.

I say post the list for people like myself.

25. You know what, though?
I see post after post where so many make statements that "xxxxx" accomplishment needs to be made more widely known...especially by the msm. Why isn't the msm pushig this info?

That seems to be in stark contrast to the negative comments made when "xxxxx" accomplisment is actually posted.

We tend to be doing the job the msm is falling dowon on. And that is disseminating positive information.

I for one appreciate the lists. I don't mind seeing them 3 times a day amongst the hundreds of posts made here daily. Sometimes I look them over, sometimes I just know they are there and don't look them over. no big deal.

But notice those that post the negative comments regarding the list. Same people every time with the same memes, not only to the list but almost as a response to every pro Obama post.

Keeps posting lists and polls, I think they are ok.
