Rush Limbaugh: "If GOP Caves, Hello Third Party"
THese people are bat shit crazy. But on this, I think he might be right. If the Speaker of the House does the only sane thing, I think you may have two GOPs next election. You may have the normal one, and the really bat shit crazy one.

Link

RUSH: I know, and you're giving me the architectural mechanism to create a third party here.

CALLER: Rush, a third party will equal Obama's reelection, and the Tea Party and anybody else that would like to start a third party need to fully understand that.

RUSH: You're not hearing me.

CALLER: I'm trying, Rush.

RUSH: What I'm telling you is that if we go out and say, "Okay, this is the plan, and this is the best we can do, but we need four more years and we need another election," that will create a third party.

CALLER: Well, no.

RUSH: It will, because it's giving up. It's because it's waving the white flag. It's saying, "We won that November election in a landslide, in a landslide, and the result of that landslide is, 'This is the best we could do. We need to win more elections.'" It would be looked at as a cave.

4. I hope he keeps pushing for more TBers. I happen to think the majority,
I mean the Large majority of sane people in the Country, are quite fed up with the TBers they electeed,, and I predict most if not all of them will be single termers. In fact, I bet if there was a recall method for the Federal House members, there would already me actions to kick them out now!

The radical RW is vey loud, but still quite a minority. Even people who don't pay attention to politics are paying attention now because things are directly affecting them! They may be unemployed, or at least have friends who are, and if these idiots manage to cause our financial system to crash, everyone will be directly affected and all in many negative ways.

I big mouth WANTS a third party, I say GO FOR IT! All it will do isdilute the Pug Party and guarantee a Dem win!

11. I think the Republicans are destroyed that's why Rush is saying
this.

I think that if there is a default the Republicans will be blamed for the catstrophic damage.

7. Oh please create a 3rd party!
That would be the best thing you could do for the country. Split the puke vote of the crazy/mean and the psychotic/sociopaths.

30. That statement is one I can say "ditto" to :)
If the GOP hives off the Tea Party members, it's a party split. As such, in marginal seats with a tea party incumbent, there would be a 3 way race and it's perceivable that there would be a Democratic gain.

10. I heard some talk radio guy echo this thought...
... That the GOP is wussy and has no spine, and they promise all sorts of stupid things to get elected, but then don't follow through, yadda yadda yadda. And I thought to myself: wow, he could be a Democrat describing Democrats. I had NO IDEA that a significant portion of conservatives think about their elected officials EXACTLY THE SAME WAY WE THINK OF OURS.

Weird.

(The guy was filling in for Hannity the other day.)

19. People who don't "get" politics come in all flavors.
Since you have an FDR sig, you know he "promised" a living wage, and housing for everybody, but never delivered?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Second_Bill_of_Rights

A "Promise" is not a "Proposed Idea", and even fulfilled promises (like Obama ordering GITMO closed) can be thwarted by other politicians.

21. You're just now seeing this? I've been seeing this ever since
Obama got in there. Just by being there he exposes so much hypocrisy and contradiction in the system. It's a full circle. I see people on the left and the right, who would literally fight each other if they had the opportunity, say the exact same thing about Obama, Boehner and the democrats and republicans. It would be hilarious if we weren't in such a bad predicament.

24. Oh, I've seen the hypocrisy for a long, long time...
... and even heard the talking heads complain that their guys just don't go far enough to the right, etc. But I guess I hadn't noticed that they think their guys are WIMPS and PUSSIES, and LIE to get into office, and all that other stuff. I had thought perhaps Republicans thought of their own politicians as being sincere and perfect and on the right track, simply wishing that they would bully liberals ever harder and harder to the right. But to hear that Republicans can openly think of their own as WIMPS at the same time that we call them BULLIES?! Maybe I hadn't just hadn't heard that particular spin before. But then, I also don't usually listen to the talk radio crowd.

They'll make up for the fact they are a minority by being obnoxious. G'head ya fat bastard: Demonstrate once and for all what a feckless bunch of nuts you all are.

20. Rush is bluffing.
He knows perfectly well that a candidate who split the conservative vote would have the same effect as when the progressive vote was split in 2000 -- namely, a big boost for the other major party.

Rush has two motives. First, he wants to threaten the right-wing Republicans so that they'll knuckle under to the extreme right-wing Republicans. Second, and probably more important, he wants to stir up interesting discussions that people will tune in to listen to. Merely echoing what's being said elsewhere won't help his ratings.

They are doing a better job getting their policies through with Obama. With a Republican in the White House, there was a united Democratic opposition.

27. Bring it on!
Works for me. The two-party system is a colossal failure. The GOP clearly cannot possibly represent that views of all of its members and as we see here everyday on DU, neither can the Democratic party represent all of theirs. It's long past time to break up the monopolies. We would be so much better off with 4 or 5 national parties.

28. They already have two GOPs
The Repugs and then the Teabaggers.

When Boehner goes to fucking Rush to ask his opinion on a bill....let's get this clear Boehner went to a highschool drop out (no disrepect to those that have dropped out and were able to succeed, radio guy).

The guy that is 3rd in line to the Presidency....goes to a Radio talking head to discuss legislation...am I the only one that is alarmed by this?
