53 Dem and Ind. Senators Will Vote No On Boehner Bill

53 Dem and Ind. Senators Will Vote No On Boehner Bill

by TomP

All 51 Senate Dems and two indies signed a letter to Speaker Boehner saying they will vote against his plan.

Adam Jentleson

That's the entire Democratic Caucus: 51 Dems, Sen. Sanders and Sen. Lieberman.

This is the response to Boehner's claim that Senate Dems will fold like a cheap suit.

53 senators say this and more:

In addition to risking a downgrade and catastrophic default, we are concerned that in five or six months, the House will once again hold the economy captive and refuse to avoid another default unless we accept unbalanced, deep cuts to programs like Medicare and Social Security, without asking anything of the wealthiest Americans.

3. Raising taxes on the top 2% back to Clinton tax rates isn't going to do it.
Why do they keep on pretending it will?

It's just a freaking show and we waste all our time on positioning.

Do nothing no good deceptive...argh. I have no more patience with these idiots.

6. Feh
Look at the amount of debt actually created by Bush's tax cuts before you say something ridiculous like this.

7. True, but that's do to ALL of the tax cuts, not just for the top 2%. We should ALL
pay the Clinton tax rates again.

8. And the 2% is a pittance
I think we should turn the clock back to the pre-Reagan years regarding tax policy and cut out the corporate job killing loopholes.

5. Good.
The bill is garbage. I'm sick of having these lunatics hold the country's economy hostage.

9. How long will Boehner last as Speaker?
I wonder how long Boehner will last as House Speaker. Actually, he could be the
best that the Republicans have to offer.
