Bachmann Declares Husband Off Limits In Campaign — After Slamming Michelle Obama In ‘08
Bachmann Declares Husband Off Limits In Campaign — After Slamming Michelle Obama In ‘08

Michele Bachmann isn't happy with the attention her husband, Marcus Bachmann, has been getting in the press lately over allegations his clinic practices gay conversion therapy. In fact, she thinks he should be kept out of the campaign entirely.

"I am extremely proud of my husband, I have tremendous respect for for him," Bachmann said at a luncheon in DC on Thursday. "I am running for the presidency of the United States. My husband is not running for the presidency. Neither are my children, neither is our business, neither are our foster children."

But Bachmann has a very different take when it comes to other candidates' spouses: She's repeatedly attacked Michelle Obama in the harshest terms and specifically challenged the press to join in on her condemnations.

Bachmann prominently cited Obama in her diatribe against "anti-American" Democrats on MSNBC during the 2008 campaign.

"Remember it was Michelle Obama who said she is only recently proud of her country and so these are very anti-American views," she said at the time. "That's not the way that most Americans feel about our country. Most Americans are wild about America and they are very concerned to have a president who doesn't share those values."

...or screw. EEEEEWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!

We're proud of our First Lady. We love her and admire her. Their children are beautiful, well-mannered little girls. Pres. Obama had no reason to hide them "in the closet". I understand your fear, but too friggin' bad you hypocritical loon. This is the life you chose.

Does that mean, if she were elected, effectively her husband would be president?

7. No deal Ms. Bachmann. Just because he's an embarrassing twit
doesn't let either of you off the hook. He's an idiot and in your (bad)judgment you married him. You and your ilk are so confused that you called the President a Muslim terrorist while at the same time bashing him for words his Christian pastor said. So no, you don't have a deal, you are a moronic sad person that married a twit. Deal with it.

19. Good luck with that.
Michele isn't in any position to issue declarations. It's not like she's Queen or something.

Marcus must be feeling a bit damp under the spotlight. Someone hand him a fan because this isn't going away.

23. Hubby reflects the family mentality
The religious viewpoint that the Bachman family holds shows the way she and her husband think. She says she respects her husband and therefore she is not understanding of the way he runs his clinic using religious mubeldefub in place of scientifically supported practices.
Secondly, I grew up protesting the Viet Nam war. I was not particularly proud of my country back then and I am not proud.... Let me rephrase my thought - If I were to say to you That I am proud of the way that our politicians are dealing with the debt problem and the way that the Republicans are voting against the poor and in favor of giving tax breaks to the wealthy, it would sound pretty stupid - wouldn't it? I think that the U.S. is the country I choose to live in because of the freedoms we have, yes.
Look at the Rachel Maddow commercial where she says - Look at all the things our ancestors have given us. I think a lot of things have been achieved that make this country great, but I will not stand here and say that I am proud of all the stupid things that are going on now!
I used to hear my parents say that the government put things in place so that we would never have to go through another depression - then look at us now! Our elected officials went against the rules that were protecting us and put us in this mess because the greedy wanted to make a lot of money. If the well educated people didn't keep us out of trouble, what would happen with a president who thinks that the answer to all of our country's problems come through prayer?? NOT

God knows that we wouldn't be a country if it weren't for Concord, New Hampshire!! AMEN!!

27. Neither is her business?? Oh, I beg to differ.
Her business is most certainly an issue in a presidential race and, since she herself chose to put spouses in the spotlight, so is her husband.

33. He's not off limits.
She has stated that she feels that women are subservient to their husbands. She went to law school because he told her to go. Therefore, his views could have a strong impact on her presidency and he should ABSOLUTELY be scrutinized.

35. Her husband should be off limits.
All spouses should be off limits.

And she should be identified as a contemptible fuck that's unfit for office because she's violated this rule. (Or more specifically this should be added to the long list of reasons why she's unfit for office.)

We'd expand the talent pool of potential candidates if people knew they could run for office without their families becoming cannon fodder for the scum of the earth. This will only happen if (1) we set the example and behave properly on our side and (2) when the other side transgresses, we mercilessly hit back at the offending party with laser-like focus.

That is to say, we aren't going to put an end to bullying by becoming bullies ourselves, but rather by beating the fucking shit out of anyone exhibiting bullying behavior (metaphorically speaking, of course).
