Obama in Witch Hunt Against a Leading Alaska-Based Scientist and Polar Bear Expert

Here we go again.

The Bush administration hounded Prof. Rick Steiner into retirement. (I know - it ended during the Obama administration, but the creaky wheels of squelching an honest voice for science began under his predecessor). Now the Obama administration is taking this a step further, by assigning a criminal investigative team with no scientific background to go after Dr. Charles Monnett, a highly respected, Anchorage-based scientist, who works for the U.S. Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement.

I suspect that the more agressive this investigation gets, the more political contributions will come Obama's way from Shell Oil. I think BP may have already maxed out what they can give him.

21. Can I ask you something? When there's a change of "party" in the WH,

does that mean that cases that have been worked by the Justice Dept, under the previous administration, should automatically get tossed? How exactly would that work? And how would that be different from the political prosecutions we saw under Bush? Would we look the other way when it's one of our guys, and only go after theirs? :shrug:

I fear your fury has seriously clouded your judgement. Unlike you, I don't want to live in a country where I can be targeted and/or exonerated depending on who's in the White House. If only you realized, it's a very dangerous argument you're making. I appeal to you to think about it.

I don't give Obama a pass because he's a Democrat.

I should be able to hold Obama to a higher standard.
