I see people are mad at Obama for making a deal with the terrorists |
|
I don't think the standing of the Democratic Party would been enhanced if there was further damage as a result of this stunt. They would have blamed both parties even though it's the Republicans fault.
The BBA is not a big issue. It would take at least 10 years to be ratified by the states. The budget might need to be balanced by then anyway.
Hopefully there has been major damage to the Republican Party. Most people see them as the cause of this mess.

8. Which means nothing in the real world. |

I can say that fucking Brad Pitt is on the table, but that's not really an indication that it will HAPPEN, is it?

10. well, in the world of DLC talking points, no. For those who rely steadily on SS, yes. |

Because the unraveling -- Super Catfood Commission and all -- can begin in earnest.

11. Right, just like we were told in the scaremongering over the original debt commission... |
|
...that THAT was going to be the end of Social Security. And like we were told the payroll tax would destroy Social Security. And that healthcare reform would destroy Medicare. And how people told us that the Republicans were sure to be able to pass Social Security privatization.
Scaremongering, pure and simple.

particularly the President's in power. It's the nature of bad wars and raids on social programs.

9. I'm mad at Pelosi for not taking a firm stand on ALL of the Bush Tax Breaks last year, which limited |
|
the President's options with the Senate and Bush's upper bracket tax breaks and delayed the whole discussion of Tax Breaks until the Budget Cap discussion now. No one is calling Pelosi to account for that silly not-so-little bit of theater.
