2. All respect to Grijalva, I'm not sure he's considered part of the Democratic "leadership".
He's Co-Chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus.

5. I wondered if that leadership has already counted the votes
They'd have to know how the Progressive Caucus views the deal. It now appears that the Progressives are planning a caucus vote tomorrow.

It was a protracted, bungled* process and I think Nancy yielded to place a marker to build on. And that's the conundrum Democrats face. The 50-state strategy worked but brought us an assload of conservative Democrats. 2010 wiped out about half their caucus in the House, so I say we try again to field and promote populist candidates.

* On edit, the process was bungled when Max Baucus held up the Affordable Care Act in his committee. Further, he evenly split those on the committee (R and D) instead of taking advantage of the Democrats' advantage of majority. That was epic BS.

25. She got it voted down the first time with holding back Dems to let Conservative Repugs do the deed..
Second time she was forced by Reid to get her Dems to support the Repugs because Hank Paulson came into her office and on "bended knee" begged her to pass it.

It will be interesting to see how Pelosi and Boehner do on this. Nancy is Minority now...and it she wants to regain her position as Speaker ....she will need to hold the line. She has too many Dems who are in danger of being redistricted out of Congress because of the Koch Brother's and RW assault on States where they have gotten the ability to redistrict Progressive and Liberal Reps out and allow Tea Party and Conservatives to run.

This is going on in States all across America where the Money Folks have gotten the local "Chamber of Commerce," Birchers and Libertarians and just Tea Party Crazies to now be able to get rid of the Progressives, Libs and Dems who were really some good people.

So...coming soon to your state...your Reps that we Dems could count on are going to be gone. Nancy knows this. Unless she's ready to retire and doesn't want Speakership/Control anymore...then she will CAVE...If she looks out there and see's hope and gets support from Obama she will HOLD FIRM...and work out something that will allow Boehner to save face ...but save our Dem Social Programs.

The suspense is killing me.
