This bill will make my ins. costs go UP... |
|
As an average working American who gets ins. coverage through my employer...already my pay is affected because of my company's expense to provide insurance. (Expenses DO have an impact on our wages!)
Already the govt gives my employer a bonus by giving them a deduction for the cost of that insurance.
Already I don't have any real choice in the matter. My company chooses the policy, the ins. company, the plan. The ins. co. gives me a list of providers I can see where my coverage will fully apply (and a larger list where if I use them, my coverage will apply to a lesser extent).
NOW I will have the added "benefit" of adding the cost of that coverage (that I didn't have any say-so on in the first place) to my income, and paying taxes on it.
Sure, the policy costs less than on the open market. But not as little as it should, since I'm pooled with others at my company who have serious medical conditions and high claims.
This taxing my ins. coverage (that I'm already paying for in reduced wages) was part of McCain's plan. How in the heck did I get THIS, when I voted for the OTHER guy??????
:(

6. This bill does nothing to stop price gouging |
|
Next April my insurance goes up 40% for no reason at all and this bill does nothing to stop it. If it went up because of health, age, gender...etc, it would help me, but it isn't going up for any of those reasons, so I am screwed.
The more things change the less they change.

5. "Even Dems"? Hmmm. Suspicious statement. But yes, it's true. You are not |
|
familiar with the bill? Or McCain's plan? I am.

Yep, the premiums went up, and the copayments doubled as well.
But, I'm just so happy I'll be taxed on top of that, oh thank you so much Senate Democrats! :sarcasm:

10. Yep I didn't vote for McCain either |
|
and I supported Obama over Hillary (I couldn't vote in the caucus, I'm not a member of the clubhouse) in the primaries because of his articulated views on health care meshed with mine.
Now I'm about to get it all handed to me anyway, despite voting for the 'other guy'.
Fuck this.

11. What is up with these Republican talking points |
|
Some people might pay more for health coverage, but these people are already well off and have good coverage. The money raised from the taxes will be distributed among people who couldn't afford insurance before.
It is no different than any other social welfare program. Some people are going to pay more in taxes, but the benefits get spread across society.
