This Texas feminist wants you to know who the hell we are
facing. Please take Rick Perry seriously. He is a well funded right wing propaganda machine in high gear. Try www.meetrickperry.org to find out more. I intend to check every few days to make sure someone on DU is posting the truth about this ultra right wing candidate and that we are uniting to guard against him.

1. Beware of fake cowboys with fat wallets!
This country will NEVER elect a Mormon. It says right there in the Constitution that we are a Christian Nation!11!11! series!111!! RomneyCare!

Good 'le Boy Rick is smarter and better looking than George.

Now take a deep breadth and ask yourself how stupid is the average American voter. We don't elect the best candidate, we elect the one we most likely want to have a beer with!

3. If comes down to a woman and a Mormon and a "big, strong
Christian man", guess who's going to win?

2. I absolutely agree,
I do not know much about the author but Sinclair Lewis said it perfectly when he wrote "When fascism comes to America, it will be draped in the flag and carrying the cross" That seems to fit Rick Perry perfectly. that is when he is not talking about Texas seceding from the rest of the country.

4. This real Texan has endless amounts of money and is
convinced he is unbeatable (because he has never been beaten). That by itself is scary.

5. It's unnerving seeing so many on this board dismiss Perry as unelectable.
The man is the perfect GOP campaigning machine: there are no core values he's unwilling to compromise to get elected...he's an established "Jesus Whisperer" that can make the fundies all moist...he's relatively TV ready, in a blow-dried, Marlboro man kind of way...he's got at least 24 billionaires backing his campaign.

In short, he's dumber, meaner, more ruthless, and slicker than Shrub, a frightening combination.

9. Perry is VERY dangerous:
The Nation cannot survive a Perry presidency. Imagine how a Pres. Perry would abuse the post-9/11 unPatriot Acts, for example.

11. Thank you for this post. Dismissing Perry is unrealistically hopeful. He has
too many rich friends and corporations that want to get their money's worth out of him. They want a big return on their investment. And I agree with the previous poster who has stated that the US might not survive a Perry presidency. He's dangerous to the US.

13. Please, please!! Everyone should view this Rachel Maddow segment
from Aug. 10, where she profiles the people who signed onto and helped organize Rick Perry's recent stadium prayer event. Also view her short interview with the author of the Texas Observer article that brought this to everyone's attention. Here are the links:

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26315908/#44098934

These are real crazies and Perry has allied himself with them There's John Hagee, whom you all are familiar with, and other so-called "pastors" who promote things like, the Japanese emperor sleeping with the sun-goddess and saying that "Japan..invited national demonization" (what a horrific thing to say, given the Fukushima events). Another individual claims that the Statue of Liberty is a demonic idol created by French Freemasons. And there's lots of talk about the Whore of Babylon.

This is what is termed the New Apostolic Reformation Movement, and they see Perry as their prophet and savior. Perry is a religious nutcase who shouldn't be allowed anywhere near the presidency.

And we thought Michelle Bachmann was bad! x(
