3. I think Giffords will have that job |
|
as long as she wants it. I doubt the people of her district would ever consider voting her out. Not after what she has gone through.

Giffords will stand for election, just like every other House member.

7. And if she hadn't been shot the GOPers would have run someone against her. |
|
Representatives have to run for re-election every two years. Always. This is the way it works, nothing nefarious about it. If she has recovered enough to run again she will, and she will have the support of a lot of people. If she is not able to run, the Dems will have to find someone else, but the Repubs will find someone as well, either way. And so it goes. Every two years, no matter what.

8. While that reflects the headline the article actually indicates that she |
|
would most likely run unopposed. The Republican says that he is interested running if she doesn't run for re-election;
"If she is capable and has the physical ability to represent the district, I think she would be a formidable – almost unbeatable – foe," Antenori said. He's the only candidate so far who has said publicly he's even considering a run – but he also says he will probably cancel those plans if Giffords decides to make another bid for her seat.

It's called democracy. They can run a candidate if they choose to.

10. Should the opposition party not run a candidate? |
|
Do you think because someone suffers a personal tragedy they should remain in office unopposed for as long as the like?
As vile as many/most Republicans can be, it isn't good for anyone to allow elected officials to remain in office unchallenged.

13. really? you're serious? So if a republican had been the one shot, it would |
|
be indecent for a dem to run against that person? What disturbing shit.

I think your definition of 'decency' is odd and weird.

Democracy requires choice. Whether you agree with the opposition is irrelevant. If Gabby is still able to serve, she is able to win a fair election.

In a democracy, during an election, two people run against each other. If she's okay to go back to work, then she's okay to run a reelection race.
