Obama will own that one. More people still blame Bush for what Obama inherited, but if a new recession hits it will be, rightly or wrongly, Obama's (yes, I also know that for many people there has not been any recovery from the first recession). Of course the GOP helped create it but Obama also helped feed into it by his unwillingness to fight the GOP and his putting deficit reduction ahead of job creation. I know he will have a new jobs proposal next month, but it seems to me too little, too late. When he had congress he should have really pushed a stronger stimulus package--as some economists had suggested.

Furthermore if a new recession happens just as the election year arrives it will seriously hurt his bid for re-election. I know we have a bunch of fools running against him, but in '80 Jimmy Carter was confident he could defeat Ronald Reagan--and we know what happened then.

1. When you continue Republican economic polices, the economy will suffer the consequences

Obama is fighting for free trade and he failed to roll back the Bush tax cuts. When it came to the Bush tax cuts, all he had to do was nothing and he couldn't even do that. He has also been putting deficit reduction near the top of the agenda. Cutting spending at a time of economic weakness is absurd. That's no way to grow an economy. Also, his stimulus contained way too many tax cuts.....it wasn't even large enough.

Obama should have seriously fought for jobs the moment he took office. His jobs proposal is indeed too little too late. This is why you have to listen to liberals from the get go. Liberals have been right about pretty much everything from the wars to the economy.
