1. What happens
either way?

As it stands right now, Boehner looks like an asshole.

5. What
will he win: a cookie?

If Obama moves the speech, he can use it as another opportunity to call them out. The President can do that even if he doesn't move the speech. Boehner set it up with his idiotic reaction.

7. How is Boehner idiotic? He suggested another day? He didn't whine or cry about it. And if Obama.....
accepts that day then why in the HELL did he pick the 7th anyway??

The ONLY reason to pick the 7th is if you will not cave. We will see.

10. Hmmmm?
"How is Boehner idiotic? He suggested another day? He didn't whine or cry about it. And if Obama.....accepts that day then why in the HELL did he pick the 7th anyway??"

So now the date the President picked is the problem and he was wrong for doing it, and Boehner isn't idiotic because all he did was suggest another date?

By this logic all they're doing is having a happy discussion trying to settle on a date, which begs the question: How does "cave" fit into this happy picture, the one in which Boehner isn't being "idiotic"?

6. Why would you call it a cave?
That seems like not thinking Boehner is being an ass as usual.

9. Bush went home to Dallas.
And no, he was never shown the utter disrespect that President Obama has been shown.

Boehner is being an ass, as usual.

20. Yes. It's silly to claim that the POTUS should change his schedule over a debate 4 months
before the first primary. Has Boehner said anything about Obama's proposed date conflicting with the Republican debate? Of course not.

11. My question: Do you think that some here will dog out Pres. Obama before-the-fact,
and leave Republicans alone, as usual?

I vote yes....wimps normally like to attack friendlier folks, and
leave the hard job of criticizing assholes to others.

13. Exactly . . .
Instead of recognizing that it is not up to the President whether he speaks or not - he can simply request to speak on a certain date - some people are very quick to blame the President and predict that he will "cave" if Boehner refuses to invite him to speak on September 7th.

The President can only speak before Congress if he's INVITED to do so - he can't just show up in the chamber of another branch of government and start talking.

12. Your question is leading - and is based on an inaccurate assumption
The President can't "reschedule" his speech because he has no authority to "schedule" it in the first place. He can only speak if and at the date and time he's invited to do so. He requested that he be allowed to address Congress.

It is up to the Congress to invite him and they get to decide when that will be.

The question is not whether President Obama will "cave" or whether he will "reschedule" - the question is whether Speaker Boehner will take the ungracious and unprecedented step of refusing to show normal deference to the President and invite him to speak on the date he has requested.

16. Maybe he doesn't want a fight - maybe he wants a jobs bill
And realizes that fighting over whether he unveils his proposal on Wednesday or Thursday night is just not a valuable use of his time.
