It's not even POSSIBLE that Obama "caved" on giving the speech to Congress. |
|
Edited on Thu Sep-01-11 11:50 AM by jenmito
He HAD to get an "invitation" to speak to the Congress at a specific date and time. Boehner said NO. Obama couldn't demand it nor could he go there to speak despite Boehner's rejection. He couldn't do a thing about it! Boehner publicly rejected his request-that's unprecedented. And when people find out about this, Boehner will and should be the one that people are angry at.

2. Let folks call the Strong Black Man Weak.....as it may be all that they have! |
|
President Obama won the Presidency and accomplished a great deal (most which is denied) while being called every name in the book.
When death threats on your life increases 400%, your wife is dogged out whenever possible, and people on both sides of the spectrum call you names daily in print, on the Internet and on the television with much disrespect.....for a man to continue holding his head up high and going about his business and yet to be called weak, reflects only the weakness of those who would proclaim themselves the judge of all things.

cause that's the only other thing they have.
Look, I tend to believe that another first, Jackie Robinson would be proud of a man leading the nation that gets his job done with manner and class, while holding on to the dignity that some simple minded folks would deny him by calling him weak. These folks are of the "My dad is stronger than your dad" mindset. They do not impress anyone.
When one thinks of Bill Clinton, on the other hand, he was never called weak, regardless that he caved on DOMA, DADT, NAFTA, Welfare reform, and repealing Glass-Steagall.
Instead, Bill is seeing as strong....the Big Dog and Bubba! Perhaps it is because he didn't have sex with that woman before he did!
Obama probably needs to wag his finger while on the teevee, and tie the nation up in some kind of three ring circus for 2 years before folks stop calling him names! That, or he needs to create some kind of financial bubble and hope it doesn't pop till he's out of office. Than, he would be seen as strong...
But killing Bin Laden, and passing health care reform that eluded so many Presidents before him....well, that's considered something a weak man would do.
I just think that there is pure contempt by some for this particular President because of folks' own personal anger due to 8 years of Bush. I understand their pain and their frustrations, I just think they are ill placed, and very destructive! But I guess that folks can't help themselves.

19. Another great post. And I'm sure you're right about the reaction of most who |
|
read your last post (as well as this one I'm now replying to). You're spot on, even about Bill Clinton, who had the honor of being called, "Our First Black President" without the "inconvenience" of being Black.

and by the way, ALL of Obama's accomplishments are denied here or simply ignored...I don't think there is a website with more hate for Obama than this one. You start to wonder who is really funding this site.

13. The "weakness" is squarely with the critics who project theirs onto him. |

They couldn't last a week in his shoes.

5. But that's not really the meat of the problem. He can ask for a meeting with Congress anytime. |
|
But, he has to check the GOP debate schedule out first. New rulez.

12. There's a lot of those little rules that we don't know about and some of them have changed recently. |
|
Like the one that says starting in 2012 whenever the President addresses a joint session of Congress, all Republicans have to wear those upside-down red dog food dishes like the group DEVO wore, so the President can readily identify the idiots sitting in the audience.
Bill Maher will probably steal this comment.

24. Obama picked two things: the date and the venue |
|
Addressing the Joint Session of Congress was more important to him than the date.
It's up to the House of Representatives to create the legislation to create American jobs. Looking into the eyes of the stoney-hearted TeaPublicans is the whole POINT of the JS, not whether it occurs Wed or Thurs.
