Two reasons out of 1000 why we ALL need to working to get President Obama re-elected
BECAUSE
The Republicans are working very hard to defeat us Democrats!
And The Republicans, with their new extreme agenda, would be a hell of a lot worse than anything America has ever seen before!

McConnell: GOP's 'only' option is to defeat Obama in 2012

If a "liberal," or even Anthony Kennedy, leaves the court and that justice is replaced by a right-wing president, we are in for a world of hurt. It's going to be ugly. We'll be going back to the 19th century. No joke.

8. Yep. The only reason, AFAIC.
The current court, and the Rehnquist court are at the root of many of our current problems, including many of the decisions President Obama has made that most of us don't like. The recent example is the smog rules cave-in. If it were not for that egregious "Citizens United" abomination, I sincerely do not believe he would have made that decision. As long as there are billions of corporate dollars polluting our electoral system, we'll see very few changes that are progressive in any way. President Obama's two previous picks to the Supreme Court have been quite reasonable. I believe any other choices he'd make would be the quite acceptable, as well. I have no doubt any one a President Perry or President Romney would choose would be as devastating, as you describe, Syrinx.

3. I have a better idea.
Primary Obama. Get someone in there who will stand up to the Republicans. Capitulation has gotten very old.
Someone Left of Center would be preferable.

4. "Someone Left of Center" ???
Just who is this mythical perfect person who could somehow unite ALL the Dems for 2012 better than our current President demonstrably can, has and will continue to do despite the most fervent RW hopes and all the worst spin possible by the US M$M?

It is true that there are several people who will appeal to one faction or another, but there is not ONE of these who is the mythical perfect person who will unite the party better than the one we have now by November 2012. That is a fact.

Even if this mythical perfect person could still somehow be found and actually win the 2012 election, without liberals in place at every level, especially in Congress, that mythical perfect person will still have to make compromises that will be unpalatable to one group or another. And those groups will scream as loudly as those who feel that they have been "betrayed" are doing now.

Work to re-elect this President in 2012 and either work at your local level, your county level and your state level to get liberals elected to office whenever and wherever possible or run for office yourself. Then continue working hard, not simply during each election cycle, but constantly and consistently, to find and support liberal candidates for 2016 and so forth.

Otherwise you play right into the hands of Rove& Co, Christian RW zealots, the Koch brothers and the corporate masters. It's taken them a LONG time to build up their strength - as some of us have been noticing all along.

Now that the monsters and true enemies of democracy are in full flower after a long, stealthy, steady and successful build-up, you expect Obama to have wiped out all their gains in two+ years - first with a recalcitrant although nominally Democratic Congress, second with the most RW group of Rethugs ever to be in Congress at one time - all the while dealing with the worst economic and global messes since the Great Depression and WWII!

Please get real.

5. You're kidding, correct?
If Obama is Primaried, then he will not be running, in the Democratic slot. Someone else will. That someone else hopefully will fight and not cave to the loons so easily, will not put our Social Security and Medicare on the table up front without even the loons asking for them to be on the table in the first place.

In other words, we need someone who will stand up to the loons on the Right and call them on their anti-democracy, pro-business, hanging on to the edge of the cliff bull shit. Obama has proven that is not him. We need someone that believes in "Power to the People", you know "We the people..." in the Constitution and not "We the corporations..."

It is time for "We the people..." to regain control of our country. A Right of Center Corporatist, as President is not that person.

7. You didn't answer my question.
Who is the Mythical Perfect Person who can beat a Republican in 2012?

Your "answer" - infosfar as I can understand it - is "Anyone But Obama" who "stands up to the loons on the Right" but you forgot to add "and whom all (or even most) Dems will support in 2012." I would LOVE to know who that MPP is. Any one person that you name will have at least as many detractors as supporters.

You either live in a utopian universe, which is about as far from the dysfunctional system we have now as we can get, or you are deliberately trying to sabotage the Dems in 2012.

Either get real, if you're the former, and begin doing the Very Hard Work it takes to get liberals (or progressives, as the latest meme seems to be) in office at all levels to support a Dem President now. For the future, please don't "fall in love" with a candidate in 2016 by projecting all your hopes, expectations and dreams on him/her, but assess his/her positions realistically before you vote. And then still be prepared to be disappointed when that individual, no matter how well-intentioned or progressive s/he is seen to be, does not live up to every single one of your expectations. Because I can guarantee you, it will happen that way.

It has for every single one of the 13 different Presidents (8 Dems and 5 Reps) I have seen in my lifetime - from FDR (I was just a baby, but the Japanese internment camps in WWII will be FDR's everlasting shame, just as the A-bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki will be Truman's) to BHO.

Or keep trying, Mr Rove.
