Obama should make sure the Democrats don't sit with the Republicans
drop all that bipartisan nonsense.

Then use the speech to blame the Republicans for the fucked-up economy. Point to the GOP side and say, "I wanted the parties sit separately so you could see whose fault it is. It's their fault. The only thing I did wrong is try to work with those assholes, the only mistake I made waa to trust this liar." Then turn around and point at Boehner.

Tell the American people, "I want you to call Congress, but only the Republicans. The democrats already know what to do. Call the Republicans and this time don't ask for a 'balanced" approach.' Fuck that. Tell them that the GOP ideas have gotten us in this mess, we need to go with the Democrats' ideas now, we can't mess around any more."

1. Strong words there.
This President doesn't have it in him to say those things.

17. Bullshit. He is not in the right POSITION to say that stuff. SURROGATES are.
People here would be screaming and howling if a GOP President did that to Democrats.

The office of the President isn't the place for literal finger-pointing. He needs surrogates out there doing the mudslinging.

I'm not buying it. He should give the bastards hell by telling the truth. Edited to add, FDR did it.

20. FDR didn't have the media playing along WITH the opposition
Edited on Fri Sep-02-11 05:21 PM by CakeGrrl
And I sure as shit don't feel like going round and round with the MSM helping the GOP push the 'angry black president' meme to the hilt, as people well OUGHT to know will happen.

NO President should be a mouth-foamer as they would surely come off if they actually said what the OP suggested.

Yes, let's give the opposition whatever they need to paint POTUS as an unhinged, angry blowhard. Not smart.

2. Most people won't like this, but here's the truth....
The President is the President of ALL the people--not just the Democrats.

That kind of talk is the job of the DNC chair, not the President.

You won't get your wish, not because the President doesn't have the stones, but because he's not stupid. He needs to point out the problems so that it is obvious to even an idiot who is at fault, not lay blame by pointing fingers and naming names.

3. The President is President of ALL the people -
not just the ownership class.

The way you make it obvious who is at fault is by pointing fingers and naming names. Economic disasters don't just 'happen'.

He consistently proves he is not part of the solution, but part of the problem.

I expect him do do the same again next week.

7. You are so fucking UNHAPPY. But you seem to take joy in your misery....
Obama is your boogeyman, and it's getting a bit, well, tiresome, the way you constantly bang the drum, screaming that it is all his fault.

Don't you have any other song to sing?

I reject your premise, BTW. I also reject your assertions. He's the Executive branch, not the legislative.

10. He is not 'the executive branch'. He is one person, who is at the head of the
executive branch. And congress does not 'rule' the country, leaving him as a helpless rubber-stamper.

He was the Democratic candidate, and was elected by Democrats for the Democratic positions he espoused. By a solid majority. If the majority wanted Republican positions to win, THEY'D HAVE ELECTED A REPUBLICAN.

DAMNED FUCKING RIGHT I'M UNHAPPY. I don't earn 120k, so I'm fucking invisible. My eldest daughter and her husband have not worked in over two years, and I'm in no position to help them beyond sending them a couple hundred bucks a month.

It would not be like this if we had a Democrat in the WH.

13. Great--we finally got it out of you. You're UNHAPPY.
You're not the only one in this world who doesn't "earn 120K" or have relatives out of work, disabled, ill, what have you.

If you really think that ONE MAN--Barack Obama--is the cause of all your misery, I have a bridge to sell you. You truly don't understand politics.

Congress makes law. You want new law? Look to them. And stop making Obama your favorite Boogeyman. It's tiresome.

You have a Democrat in the White House. He's just not left enough to suit YOU.

You'd be crying like a child if McCain was your President.

14. I may be unhappy, but at least I'm not miserably angry.
How many strawmen are there? Let me count the ways...

1) I never suggested I was the ONLY one beneath Omama's and the Third Way's notice - I know there are plenty down here with me.

2) Who claimed that Obama is the cause of all my misery? Republican policies, republican wars, republican catering to the business elite, republican support of globalist economic to the detriment of the nation - THOSE are the cause of most my miseries (and yours, whether you admit it or not), and Obama is in a position to change that. Instead he continues it. He's but one corporatist among many. I have noting particular against him - it's his policies (which he lied about in the campaign) I have a problem with.

3) Who says I don't? I am every bit as much opposed to regressive congress critter as I am to the laws they pass which Obama signs. But I have no veto power - if they pass a shit law, I can't stop it. He can.

Incidentally, I deny that there is a Democrat in the WH. There is a Third Way president in the WH - and what is Third Way other than someone who is neither Republican or Democrat? I'd love to have a leftie in the WH - but I'd settle for a Democrat.

Side note: who's this "we" who 'got it out' of me? Playing tag team with another DLCer, or just a little bit schizo?

15. While the Democrats were somehow unable to block anything that Bush did
especially the DLCers who voted for horrible legislation "because it was going to pass anyway."

We weren't born yesterday. We can remember past last week.
