Perry has never lost an election. He looks ridiculous to us, but not to the electorate. If that bozo GW Bush can win the presidency TWICE, Rick Perry has the qualifications to win it in 2012. Especially if the Obama who runs against him inspires the same fealty and respect the current one does.
