Bill Clinton, with a Democratic House and Senate for two years, couldn't pass HC Reform |
|
Obama did.
I definitely agree with those long-timers here who say the President needs to be a lot more aggressive with the GOP. But I think it's also important to remember that he does have some accomplishments under his belt.

4. Yep - and you can thank Democratic Senators for that. |
|
Edited on Mon Sep-05-11 06:35 PM by DURHAM D
Also, the thing (not reform at all) that Obama got passed was originally written for Senator Dole by the Heritage Foundation in opposition to the plan Hillary was developing.
Did you really want to bring this up?

6. Too bad that what you said is actually not true. |
|
It's a complete myth, akin to Tim Geithner working for Goldman Sachs.

And Geithner has worked for Goldman Sachs, whether or not he was on their payroll.

Henry Paulson is a former CEO for Goldman Sachs. Geithner never worked for Goldman Sachs.

Besides, what people were clamoring for were JOBS. The WH was tone deaf and it cost them the House.

Yay?
Maybe he can think about a health care reform program instead of a health insurance reform program.

16. Yes, he does. Let's not forget that Hillary's healthcare reform bill was stupid! |
|
God almighty, it was so bad that it was hard to believe she actually thought it would fly!
It was basically forcing all employers in the U.S. to provide certain levels of insurance. Like, really...she thought that would pass. Ludicrous. That's the part I remember...if it had a part to address those who were unemployed, I don't recall that.

|
- and Bill Bradley was a senior Senator on that committee then and he was more liberal than she was.

28. That bill was so stupid because of naivete. |
|
They started with a plan, and then let anyone who wanted to be "a cook in the kitchen" propose changes. Resulted in a confusing mess because they tried to please such a diverse group of interests. And they didn't realize people were going to propose absolutely unworkable things in order to kill the entire project.

I **have** health insurance and I still can't afford to go to the doctor to get the prescriptions I need TO LIVE. You try it with a $2,600 deductible ...
Reform, my ass. We needed the public option, but that was off the table before it was ever even on the table.
