Let's be clear: Any jobs initiative supported by the Republicans is probably a piece of shit
Edited on Tue Sep-06-11 04:13 PM by Cali_Democrat
Right now Boehner and Cantor came out in support of one of Obama's proposals where people essentially work for private employers for free.

See here for more information about the plan --->>>http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=439x1863174

If you read the link, you can see that the plan wasn't very effective in getting people jobs. Under the plan, people would essentially be working for a private employer and receive no wages. It's not exactly shocking that the GOP would come out in support a plan where businesses can essentially use slave labor...paying people nothing for working.

This plan is a piece of shit and should be scrapped. Businesses and Wall Street probably love the plan and the fact that the GOP leadership came out an endorsed it only confirms my suspicions.

1. Then there won't be a jobs initiative. And you can rail about that.
This is a 2 party country. We're split 50/50. You figure it out.

18. Right ... when nothing happens, it will still be Obama's fault.

2. The only jobs' legislation from the R House
Will be what the Teapublicans support.

Your comments about "Slave Labor" referring to the job-training proposals are ludicrous.

3. Hmmmm?
"where people essentially work for private employers for free"

From the link:

President Obama: “We’ve got to rethink how we do unemployment insurance. There is a smart program in Georgia. What they do is they say, all right, instead of you just getting unemployment insurance, just a check, what we’re going to do is we will give a subsidy to any company that hires you with your unemployment insurance so that you’re essentially earning a salary and getting your foot in the door into that company. And if they hire you full-time, then the unemployment insurance is used to subsidize you getting trained and getting a job.”

Where in there does it say "work for private employers for free"?

5. That's
an opinion and an inaccurate one. Not only doesn't the President's statement say anything about working for free, but the facts of the program also don't support the claim.

Georgia Offers Payment to Businesses That Hire the Unemployed

Is your business hiring? No? Well, what if someone pays you? The state of Georgia is offering. A new proposal in the Peach State offers a $2,400 tax credit to companies that hire someone who’s currently unemployed.

Georgia’s senate approved the measure last week. Under the terms of the bill, the tax break would kick in for each unemployed person who’s hired before July 2010. Companies are required to keep the new workers on the payroll for at least two years in order to earn the credit.

6. The opinion is an accurate description of the program
Boehner and Cantor thank you for your support of the program. You even provided links to the Wall Street Journal describing how wonderful and lovely the program is.

7. No, it's not. And
"Boehner and Cantor thank you for your support of the program."

...screw Boehner and Cantor. That still doesn't mean facts should be distorted.

9. Oh please.
The President mentioned a program, that has nothing to do with working for free, and it needs to be distorted just because Boehner and Cantor said something?

When Boehner and Cantor claim they support Medicare and Medicaid, are you going to oppose these programs just because these clowns said something?

Edited on Tue Sep-06-11 04:54 PM by Cali_Democrat
The fact that the GOP has people here helping to get their agenda through Washington is probably making them extremely happy.

Just sayin'

14. Cheap
"The fact that the GOP has people here helping to get their agenda through Washington is probably making them extremely happy."

...psychology!

Democrats in the George legislature voted for the bill. Fairly certain it wasn't because of something Boehner and Cantor said.

"The Georgia approach uses unemployment insurance funds to pay jobless workers in trainee positions."

21. "Probably"? I can guarantee it...
the reality is that the GOP wants to return to the "Gilded Age", robber barons, monopolies, they even want Jim Crow Laws back. They are shameless about it now.

23. Wait...Obama has given his speech on Jobs? If he hasn't this post is full of shit.
How in the fuck does someone make the claim they made without hearing the speech? Good Lord. Much ado about nothing. Hence the reason I don't listen to talking heads. I can make my own decisions and interpretations thank you.
