OK... This is a bold post from a newbie.... There are many here on DU that seem to want |
|
Obama gone, come 2012! So what then I ask? Who are you advocating take the WH? Many don't want a Primary challenger, but certainly don't want either a Republican or a Tea Bagger. So, where do we go from here? Please enlighten me!

105. Only 78%? Obama better find a way to get the other 22% of Democrats to vote for him. The numbers |
|
don't lie. He only the general over McCain by 7%.
Now let's do the math. Approximately 1/3, or 33%, of all voters are Democrats. That equates to 22% of Democrats equaling out to approximately 7% of all voters.

would you suggest he go about forcing Republicans in Congress to accept anything proposed by him without compromise? Even when Democrats were in the majority in both Houses, there were not enough in the Senate to achieve cloture and actually vote on the many, many bills passed by the House.

do it by fiat. While Bush did sign more executive orders than President Obama has, there is a Constitutional limit on those as well....And, frankly, I do not want President Obama to govern the way Bush/Cheney "governed", do you?
Bush/Cheney did not have a Senate who put ruining the president before the good of the country.

So...

|
Of course many of his most ardent supporters assume that people that complain about him on here complain about him that way IRL. Most of us don't. I get called a basher on here and a part of the Obama cult irl. You're supposed to be able to defend your guy to outsiders while asking others in your group "What the hell is he thinking?". Apparently that's no longer allowed. I already heard how it was unpatriotic to criticize the president before, and I don't like it any better when it's my side saying it.

I expect President Obama to act like a progressive Democrat. When he doesn't, I won't hesitate to call him out on it. That's what most people are doing in posts that are critical of him.
Most of us will vote for him in 2012 because we don't have a choice -- the alternative is orders of magnitude worse. So give us a break and let us scream out our frustrations ... all we have left are our voices.
If you really want to know how many people won't vote for Pres. Obama, do a poll. You'll find that the majority of DU'ers WILL vote for him. We may be critical of him, but we're not insane enough to let a teabagger win the WH.

HRC supporters followed her lead and DO support the president. Please let us get over the primaries of 2008 and focus on electing enough progressives in Congress to do what the House of Representatives did from January 2009 to December 2010, and pass progressive legislation for the president to sign.....OK?

I think its clear that the extended primary did create a rift that has had trouble healing completely.

101. How do you get that assumption |
|
"most are"... I wonder how you could assume that?
This is an assumption, true?
For example, I was not as follow through as my spouse was in examining Illinois voting records or the extent to what degree community development BO was devoted to. I just had to make a decision, and in the end, it was not HRC, it was BO. So, he voted reluctantly, and I bought the "hope".... cried when I saw Jessie Jackson cry, talked him up among my stronger Democratic friends who were more reluctant to vote anyone but HRC.
Oh, and I was an early Kucinich supporter... Also, a really big Deaniac in 04, but I get away from calling you out for your assumptions
I don't fit into your assumption. I became disappointed in Obama the old fashioned way.... He EARNED it.

76. Where are you reading the drama? Shit, I'd like to know who people are advocating for. |
|
I have heard of primarying Obama...but I haven't seen much on who should the candidate be---when Kucinich is known not to have a chance and HRC has said she won't be running again.

61. Obama is not liberal enough for them |
|
And they believe that Rs being in office will take things to such an extreme that the people will revolt. They will then get this "revolution" that they want, whether sincerely or just to observe the drama.
That's how the thinking goes. Either that, or R operatives just trying to get everyone down.

...Obama would choose not to run again in 2012, Bernie Sanders would join the Dems and win the primary, and on January 20th , 2013 we'd all be cheering for President Sanders.

86. Tear down the DLC controlled Democratic Party |
|
and take the Party back. Lefties have followed this group from dead end to dead end. The DLC has caused tremendous damage to progressive causes and credibility. It seems clear to me that a lot of the damage was done on purpose. How else can one explain the ineptitude in governance and contempt for the left. Time for the DLC to hand over the wheel and get behind us for the good of the Party. Of course, they will never do this because they don't believe in Democratic causes. They are at their heart, cons. True Democrats cannot fight the GOP while the DLC rules the Democratic Party. Therefore, the first order of business must be to take the Party back.

You are asking DUers who not only don't want Obama reelected, but also don't want a primary challenge and don't want a Republican, "What do you want?" No wonder you haven't got an answer. There are no such DUers. They are a figment of your imagination.
