17. Actually, you're pretty right. |

I've noticed that in general, DUers tend to break down into two general camps: European Left-style "social democrats" and socialists/Marxists.

In other words they ask if you are a liberal, moderate or conservative Democrat.

18. Same here. The difference I think comes down to pragmatism. |
|
The distinction between the people who will take everything we can get, and those who demand more. Anyone who's heard me go off on my rant knows I'm virulently against the drug war, and for that matter most drug prohibition, but I also recognize that that's not a realistic goal to achieve right now. Same goes for a dozen other issues.
There's also the smaller subset who hold more radical beliefs closer to a Marxist fringe, which you sometimes hear echoed here in comments about arresting bankers, shooting bankers, eliminating banks, etcetera.

President Obama's approval rating has leveled off at the low point of his presidency, averaging 40% for the third straight week. Notably, his approval rating among several groups that previously gave him strong majority support -- postgraduates, Hispanics, 18- to 29-year-olds, and lower-income Americans -- is now below the 50% threshold.

The 71 percent are Liberals, which would include Liberal Dems as well as liberals who are not Democrats.

23. The myth that Obama is losing his core base, liberal Dems, is ridiculous. |

His problem is with conservative Democrats and moderate and conservative independents. I'm confident he'll be able to get enough of them back in time for 2012.

|
at DU should strenuously object to these poll results, because only DU knows what a real "liberal democrat" is. You're required to read heaping helpings of NorquistDogLake & be an avid Glenn Greenwald sycophant to qualify as a true "liberal democrat". Did Gallup clear these results with DU before publication? I want a recount! Dammit!

Why is this such a controversial topic here??
Folks, this poll reflects the reality of the situation. Arguing about it. Denying it. Unrec'ing it. Demanding to know how Gallup identifies "liberals" doesn't change a damn thing. Deal with it.
