I don't like what I'm hearing from this guy on radio QUOTE:Perry did not say he was going to get rid of Social Security and the Romney camp don't have Perry on the ropes like they think.

that thing you called a quote reads like bad paraphrasing. You don't know the difference between the two?

10. Last night he was going on and on about how well Perry did |
|
Plenty of red meat for the base.
Plenty of stuff for his corporate donors.
Did not back down from "Social Security is a Ponzi Scheme" showed people he has strong convictions.
Kind of all back-handed compliments, but very complimentary about his performance.

I don't think Perry has a chance at winning this with how he attacks Social Security calling it a failure. I predict he will fall hard in the polls once the word gets out.

13. Perry wants to outright kill Social Security, Romney wants to "save" it by "personalizing" it |
|
Personalizing means privatizing.
No dem has ever advocated anything like that.

23. Cain was trying to say last night personalizing doesn't mean privatizing. |
|
Eugene Robinson set him straight on this. It was sort of funny watching this exchange. I'm sure there's a video somewhere about this exchange.

|
The GOP will beat him over the head with it, and call him a hypocrite if he says anything about their plans to ruin the program.

|
I'm beginning to think Ed is actually a conservative populist, not an un-common political animal in these parts.

17. He means there's room for Perry to wiggle out of his Ponzi scheme statements... |
|
Since Perry never said he'd do away with Social Security, Perry can still say..."what I said was that Social Security, as it is right now, is a Ponzi scheme. What I will propose is a way to fix it so that is no longer a Ponzi scheme, and actually is secure for the 25 to 30 year olds." I don't think anyone will believe him when he says that, but there's still wiggle room for Perry to get out of his statemetn as meaning he wants to kill SS once and for all.
That's all. Ed is correct.

27. Yep, there is. Social Security as it exists now, is what he's talking about. |
|
No one but a few idiots will believe him, but strictly speaking, he hasn't said he's going to end Social Security, period. Now, WE all know that's what he means and that's what he wants to do, but he hasn't actually spoken those words.
