I don't want to say I told you so, but....I told you so.

This is why Obama should have been calling out the GOP by name instead of lumping in the Congressional Dems with the Republicans.

Obama's blaming Congress tires Democrats
By MANU RAJU | 9/8/11 12:13 AM EDT Updated: 9/8/11 12:39 PM EDT

President Barack Obama spent much of the past month beating up on one of the country’s least popular institutions: the United States Congress.

This isn’t going over well with Democrats, who still run the Senate side of the Capitol and are tired of getting picked on by a president from their own party.

“It’s a point of great contention with the Democrats in Congress that feel like we’re doing an awful lot to support his agenda,” Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-La.) told POLITICO on Wednesday. “And it’s very discouraging, disheartening and it’s really not fair.
He may just want to keep that up, but it doesn’t help his relations with the Democratic members of Congress at all.”

As he prepares to address a joint session of Congress on Thursday in a prime-time address on the slumping economy, Democrats on Capitol Hill are urging the president to pin the blame squarely on the Republicans who control the House and the powerful GOP Senate minority for the legislative gridlock that has paralyzed Washington.

Obama needs to squarely blame the Republicans in Congress rather than Congress as whole. Stop lumping in Congressional Dems with the Republicans. Don't be scared and CALL THEM OUT BY NAME!

Obama's current strategy is ridiculous if he wants Dems to maintain control of the Senate and retake the House.

1. When a fire burns down your house, it's really stupid to
blame the water that was used to fight the fire for the damage. K/R Name the sons of bitches for what they are.

I realize that Harkin and Menendez are quoted, but Mary Landrieu?

Still, let members of Congress defend themselves if they believe they must. They still haven't explained why they're blocking funds to close Guantanamo. Most poeple know which party the President is referring to when he talks about putting party before country.

Also, this story is a few days too late. The President called out the Republicans on Monday.

<...>

“But we’re not going to wait for them. We’re going to see if we’ve got some straight shooters in Congress. We’re going to see if congressional Republicans will put country before party. We’ll give them a plan, and then we’ll say, ‘Do you want to create jobs? Then put our construction workers back to work rebuilding America. Do you want to help our companies succeed? Open up new markets for them to sell their products. You say you’re the party of tax cuts? Well then, prove you’ll fight just as hard for tax cuts for middle-class families as you do for oil companies and the most affluent Americans. Show us what you got.’

<...>

Of all the things Democrats should be focused on, this seems highly petty!

On edit: In defense of Democrats, this is a Politico story. It's not hard to imagine that these quotes are in response to leading questions and used to support this angle.

3. The fact of the matter is
... EVERYONE is to Blame.

Yes, The President should have known the Republicans wouldn’t support him if their Mother’s Lives depended on it.

The Democrats need to get together or this will be the last time they will have the chance.

6. This is why the Republicans diss him. They think they can roll
him. To their thinking, he fears Republicans
more than they fear him.
