"The latest Repub. plan to steal a presidential election may just work." |
|
You can be sure the Repubs. are doing this nationwide, come Nov. 2012. http://blog.buzzflash.com/node/13009

11. Will do my best to keep from having to move, will do whatever I can to prevent it. |
|
My move will be occasioned IF they win in 2012. Don't think I could bear another 4 or 8 year siege. Thanks, Cal.

3. Yup. And they don't even have to do anything messy like hack voting machines. |
|
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=102&topic_id=4994699&mesg_id=4994699The trick is, they won't do it nationwide, just in states (like PA) that usually vote Dem but fell into the hands of the teabaggers in the 2010 debacle. MI and WI are two other prime candidates.

4. The article you linked to says "Nor is there anything obviously illegal or unconstitutional about |
|
the GOP plan." So how is doing something that is legal stealing? Elections have consequences. Lots of Democrats stayed home during the last election and let the GOP take total control of Pennsylvania. Now this is what we get. In the next election Democrats need to come out in droves and take their state back. Then something like this can't happen.

5. Yep. But, short of that, there's not a whole hell of a lot we can do |
|
about it. Makes me sick to think of the consequences of this. And the Rethugs are brazen enough (and crazy enough) to do it.

7. Too many Dems. are not the "fighting back" type. Obama is not the |
|
only one.
To your question "So how is doing something that is legal stealing?" What is legal is not necessarily moral. Example: Corporatists got the government to grant Big Oil the privileges of not only paying little or no tax, but also to give them "subsidies." Subsidies means money obtained from taxing the middle-class. And all this after Big Oil has recently made profits unheard of in the past. This is all legal, certainly not moral.

12. I agree that it's immoral. But your OP called it stealing. Immoral is not the same |
|
thing as stealing. Stealing an election would be not just immoral but also illegal.

13. Yes, stealing an election is both immoral and illegal. To make it |

officially illegal, there also has to be evidence. Let's consider a few examples:
(1) Having rigged electronic voting machines without paper trails. Experts say it's impossible to prove the rigging under such circumstances. Today about a third of the states still use electronic voting machines with no paper trails. It's been only 11 years since these machines were first used. How come? Something is wrong somewhere.
(2) Having the Supreme Court help one side makes it officially "legal," doesn't it? So, it's no longer stealing?
(3) Doing all sorts of dirty tricks to prevent certain groups of Democrats from voting is illegal. We read about this rather frequently, but Democrats rarely ever protest, let alone protest with evidence -- which, in this case, is rather easy to obtain.
Yes, something is wrong somewhere.

8. Hi. I think you should write a separate post on this topic. More people will get to |

read it that way. I sure hope many will sign.
