Primary Challenge to President Obama
President Obama’s smooth path to the Democratic nomination may have gotten rockier Monday, after a group of liberal leaders, including former presidential candidate Ralph Nader, announced plans to challenge the incumbent in primaries next year.

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2011/sep/19/liberals-vow-challenge-obama-democratic-primaries/

Good, now we can finally decide what our party will stand for. Will our leaders be smaller versions of Repugnik corporate whores, or will we return to our roots as the party of the people.

2. The GOP must be tickled pink. They'll be more than happy to fund another Nader campaign.

6. Read carefully
"In search of candidates, Mr. Nader and the others sent out a letter, endorsed by 45 “distinguished leaders,”to elected officials, civic leaders, academics and members of the progressive community who specialize among other things in labor, poverty, military and foreign policy. The list, they said, also includes progressive Democrats who have held national and state office and have fought for progressive reforms."

They're not talking about another Nader campaign. They're looking for some opportunist who wants to move onto the national stage. Former Union Presidents, retired generals, and available govenors and ex-govenors as well. I'm dubious there is anyone out there, but it only takes one (maybe 2) to achieve their goals.

Nader: Obama’s a “con man,” hints at indie run in 2012
link: http://hotair.com/archives/2010/12/10/nader-obamas-a-con-man-hints-at-indie-run-in-2012/

No good progressive rebellion would be complete without hearing from Ralph Nader, and the two-time presidential candidate and notorious spoiler finally weighed in on the tax deal Barack Obama cut with the GOP. Needless to say, Nader is less than impressed with the President, and demanded a primary challenge from the left to defeat the “con man” currently in the White House. And if one doesn’t step forward, well, Nader might pull his campaign out of mothballs and give it one more go himself:

“He has no fixed principles,” Nader said, of Mr. Obama. “He’s opportunistic — he goes for expedience, like Clinton. Some call him temperamentally conflict-averse. If you want to be harsher, you say he has no principles and he’s opportunistic.”

“He’s a con man,” Nader continued. “I have no use for him.”

Nader urged a progressive candidate to challenge Mr. Obama for the presidency in 2012, and said that while he wasn’t altogether disallowing the possibility of running himself, it was time for a new progressive leader to step forward.

“Obama’s position has been that the liberal, progressive wing has nowhere to go, therefore they can’t turn their back on the administration. But a challenge will hold his feet to the fire and signal that we do have somewhere to go,” Nader said.

“I’m not foreclosing the possibility (of running). There are just other things to do,” he continued. “And it’s time for someone else to continue. I’ve done it so many times. When I go around the country, I’m telling people they need to find somebody.”

Could Republicans get this lucky? Yes, we can! Seriously, though, the progressive wing of the Democratic Party isn’t likely to back yet another step along the Harold Stassen road for Nader, and Nader himself seems to realize it. If Nader ran, he’d be the Maytag Repairman of presidential candidates with very little chance of impacting the results.

As an activist, though, Nader could have plenty of impact. He’s likely to serve as a rallying point for angry progressives at the moment, and the era of Republican control of the House will provide plenty of opportunities for even more anger. Instead of being king, Nader could easily play kingmaker for someone on the inside of the party to step up against Obama. Nader thinks that a primary is a given, “ust a question of how prominent” the challenger will be. Can he recruit someone with enough credibility to run against a sitting President? Russ Feingold’s looking for work, but Obama did a lot of campaigning for Feingold in a desperate attempt to rescue his job. Howard Dean has insisted he’s not interested. Who’s left? Wes Clark?

28. From December of last year
The current article is about a different effort. Quite honestly, I suspect even Nader knows he'd be better off recruiting someone with a political track record, or military, than trying himself.

Good, now we can lose another election and go down to corporate power and money for sure. When are you people going to wake up that a republican president isn't an option if most of us and our kids are going to have a future. BTW. When everyone has a stake in America including conservatives and liberals America works best. Look at Bill Clinton's presidency and don't even go to the obvious. Most of those politicians are screwing someone. I just want them to stop screwing me. A lot of us did well(relative term) and had opportunity with Bill Clinton. GWB began the down hill slide and another repub. prez will make us a 3rd world country in all categories if they get another 8 years before this mess is turned around. Want to sell your kids and grandkids down the tubes, throw your vote away on Nader. It isn't like it would be the 1st time.

We can't afford a philosophical stance at this time in history.

10. Breaking News: A shark has just jumped Ralph Nader!!!
The AP reports that after years of people "Jumping Sharks" ... the sharks have had enough.

"Its been embarrassing" said the Shark spokeshark, "to have ridiculous people jumping over us all the time. So we've decided our best response is to start jumping over ridiculous people in protest. And Ralph was the first ridiculous person on our list".

The sharks are also considering a jump over Michelle Bachmann, after her own "shark jump" at the last GOP Debate. The fact that she rarely leaves IOWA anymore will make this tougher, but the Sharks are not concerned.

"If she stays in the GOP primary fight until Florida, we can definitely jump her there, and perhaps 8 other truly ridiculous GOP candidates, all at the same time. That would probably set a world record." confirmed the spokeshark.

The AP is also reporting that Cornel West is angry at the sharks for not planning to "jump over him", but this is unconfirmed.

if as much energy was being directed towards the Republican majorities (in a lot of states since last year) pushing hard against women, gays, unions, voting rights, minorities, etc. instead of a foolish effort to reprimand President Obama for not........well......doing something that Nader and West want.

Speaking of siding with Main Street over Wall Street, I don't suppose that they noticed that President Obama advocated for and signed into law a brand new Consumer Financial Protection Agency that is under assault by the Republicans whom are preventing Obama from nominating anybody to head up the agency. Are Nader and/or West going after the Republicans about this? No? Well, why the hell not?

Republicans are running amok in several states screwing up the country and making Congress dysfunctional and Nader and West think the best idea right now is to go on an all out offensive against.......President Obama? Really? :wtf:

There just aren't enough face palms to react properly to this article. :banghead:

Anyone that actually thinks Nader is any kind of Leftist anything is delusional.

Nader Inc. is about MAKING MONEY for him and his family members that control his various schemes.

Nader is exactly like Palin in this regard, yet he fools lots of gullible people.

No money in it, Nader would fold his tent and move on.

i just said people who hate him for 2000 are ridiculous.

btw, i dont agree with the actions of nader but i can understand why he left the party. he felt like he couldnt change anything from within.

now he wants to come back to the party and its the same ole lame lines of him being a traitor or making us lose the 2000 election( you know, the one where thousands of people were denied the right to vote and the supreme court decided who our next president was). Either ya'll have the shortest memory spans ever or... you just werent involved in politics at the time.

get over it.

we need all the help we can get against these whackos.

funny how all the good work nader did before he ran for president are just thrown out the window as if they never existed. oh , thats right, thatd require u to visit the real world of factual things... not what you WANT and THINK.

It's a lot more than that. Regardless of your excuses about why Gore lost, if Nader hadn't been in the race, Gore would've been president. And he wants to try it AGAIN with THIS president? How much you wanna bet that the Repubs. will help fund whatever he and his group want to do? Where has Nader been since Obama got elected? Why does he just seem to pop up his ugly head near election times? He's a trouble-maker working against Dems.
