7. Here's why I love it;

The more we see GLBT persons operating professionally, effectively, and perfectly normally in the military, the more we slowly destroy the bullshit of the ignorant and hateful. Many people in the military have been unable, also, to live their own lives openly. We will see more and more people living openly, and demonstrating the normalcy of their lives.

More and more, the haters will be exposed to the fact that gay people are no different from them except for sexual orientation. (And maybe creativity, intellect, sense of humor.... but that's another matter)
