Who’s the Real ‘Zero’? Romney Asks
By Danny Yadron
Texas Gov. Rick Perry has little room to talk when his campaign calls Barack Obama “President Zero,” according to former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney’s campaign.
Mr. Perry on Wednesday released a highly produced campaign video that blames Mr. Obama for the sour economy, noting that no jobs were added last month. “Zero hope” and “zero change,” the video says.
In the hours since, the Romney campaign has come up with its own number-based nickname for Mr. Perry: “Governor Sub-Zero.”
While the U.S. economy did not gain any jobs last month, the state of Texas actually lost 1,300. The Texas Workforce Commission reports that the Lone Star State added 8,100 private sector jobs in August but lost 9,400 government jobs. Mr. Perry’s campaign blamed the downward tick on Mr. Obama and the national economy.
