H.R.3962: GOP vote 174 - 1 Nay.

Doesn't that tell you anything?

A corporate Democrat = A Republican?

Please explain.

1. The party of NO to the max.
May they all come back in their next life as something deserving of their attitude.

2. I prefer the Party of Quitters.
Not prepared to negotiate on behalf of their constituents.

3. You would think
Edited on Sun Dec-20-09 07:18 AM by quaker bill
that if the bill was a massive gift to the insurance industry as so often stated here, it would attract some, perhaps a great many republican votes.

I think it is because the bill taxes the wealthy insurance companies and spends the money on subsidies to the poor, and then requires insurance companies to spend 90 percent of the premiums and subsidies on delivering actual healthcare rather than CEO bonus packages that creates the observed republican/democratic divide.

Whereas the divide between the digital left and the democrats in congress is that the democratic bill allows the health insurance companies to continue to exist, even in a very regulated form.

4. They are smarter than that
What does voting for it give them? By voting against it, they can take ANY unpopular aspect of the law and say "look, I told you so!, now vote for me so I can repeal it".

By voting for it, all they do is give cover to Obama and the democrats by allowing them to call it "bipartisan".

6. The GOP doesn't have to do a dammd thing.
The Dems are just shooting themselves and the people
of this country in the foot.
