2. The 'Unrecommend' feature is not being used as intended. It's time for it to go.

10. Since it was 12 minutes long (& why I didn't post until now)
It's clear that you were unrecced, not the content of your post.

6. Actually, if you watched the video...
he is being very reasonable. Clearly, he's walked back the unproductive hard-line "kill the bill" bluster. That's good news for all.

13. I saw him on thye air...and I like what he is saying
He's just saying the same thing he has been, but in a less, er, Deanish way.

Howards's major problem is that he tends to overstate for effect initially, and then have to explain himself later.

I agree with what his point was all week. Don't pass things that are going to further entrench the insurance companies without accountability....Start this on the right path mot the wrong one.

16. Dunno - you tell me
I'm not starting inflammatory O/Ps on this topic - ask those that are. I respond to posts that seem to be aimed at dividing DU over this issue. We agree on the 95% - can't we discuss the remaining 5% like adults?

Maybe the answer is that -- like so many on DU -- we're just ornery.

As for the 5 percent --- here stated clearly is my bottom line. The Democrats have an opportunity to do good things that are popular and needed. If they are unwilling to go to the extent that is really needed to reform the system, I can accept small incremental changes that would at least help in the short run.

But what I cannot accept are provisions -- like mandates to buy private insurance -- that further entrench the power of the insurance industry over the system, because that will make it much more difficult, if not impossible, to make further changes or improvements down the line. Those aspects of this bill take us in the wriong dirtection.

That is what Howard Dean is saying, and it is what I am saying.

Interesting collaboration between right and left as described in that article.

Oh, I haven't started an O/P since yesterday noon, and I thought it was a good provocative post in line with what I've been saying all along, perhaps I've started 6 all week - they were provocative, yet fair for the most part (may be one that was over the top - I can't recall - perhaps you can search my posts - you may be somewhat enlightened if you look at the overall picture of what I post).

17. Dean said he was talking to Axlerod every day
He's doing a good job of playing devils advocate. He initially came out of the gates a little bit over the top, but now that his voice is part of the mix, he's doing his best to actually push for improvements in the bill we can get. I like Dean - he's proven time and time again that he can be tough, yet reasonable.

Intra-party division and rancor will only serve to embolden the rethuglicons. Can't have that.

9. Thanks for bringing this here. What the GOP and their
teabag followers don't get is that we actually fight for what matters, even if it means going against the grain. That's the beauty of the honesty and integrity of Howard Dean. Thank you, for bringing this, I needed to see this today.

8. That was a very good intervew
Gregory actually did a good job of drawing out the critical issues and having Dean clarify exactly where he stands with this bill and the administration.

I hope that the conference will fix those remaining problems that he pointed out. Let's push our reps to make sure this happens. I trust Dean on this topic and if his suggested additions get into the final bill & he's happy with it, I'll feel an awful lot more assured that someone who's intimately familiar with the bill and process has given it his stamp of approval.
