Any school that let students opt out of watching Obama's back-to-school speech, |
|
Edited on Wed Sep-28-11 01:19 PM by jenmito
they should ALSO let students opt out of having certain teachers, learn certain subjects, etc. It's RIDICULOUS to give parents the option of not letting their children listen to the POTUS giving a speech about staying in school, doing their best to get good grades, etc. This is NOT like giving their children a HPV immunization. THAT I could understand having an opt-out letter sent home. Opting out of listening to the POTUS talk about the importance of education? CRAZY.

1. Collier Count y (Naples, Florida) REFUSED to show it |
|
"Obama is too controversial" is what they said. Excuse me? Stay in school and do your homework is controversial? No, it's WHO is saying it, not WHAT he is saying. This a Teabagger place. Neighboring Lee County (Ft. Myers) DID show it. BTW, Ft. Myers schools score higher on state and SAT scores than Naples.

4. Yup, it's definitely the messenger... |
|
because it can't be the message. These people are probably Faux listeners who believe Obama is trying to "indoctrinate" the children. Maybe they think he's trying to turn them Muslim? :eyes:

16. Sure, it's also the message. |
|
He's telling the kids to pay attention to their teachers, study hard and learn what they're being taught. The GOP doesn't want an educated populace. They want a bunch of ignorant dummies who believe everything their party feeds them. You know, like the ones who are choosing to let their mini-mes "opt out".

26. They also want religious institutions to take over education. |
|
Keep 'em scared, ignorant, and fearful by filling their heads full of superstitious nonsense.
They'll do as they are told, by their fathers, preachers, bosses, and politicians...OR GOD WILL SMITE THEM WITH HIS WRATH!!
As an aside, would anyone in their right mind hire an attorney that got a law degree from the Liberty University to do anything other than paint their house?

I will pull them out, and demand that the school call home about how parents can opt out.

This white guy sees that.
The effort to claim Obama is "illegitimate" is racist at its core.
I hope that Dems now ensure that any Senate needs 60 votes to change the name of a post office.
That screaming "you lie" is OK at any State of the Union Speech.

you're not a Birther and don't think he's the Antichrist. Some of them do have those mindsets-thanks to Faux, Limbaugh, etc. The schools shouldn't be ALLOWED to let kids' parents opt out of letting their kids listen to the POTUS.

17. at which case the parents pull their kids out of public school |
|
and send them to private school and the public school loses out on the money the state gives them for each kid enrolled ... bottom line the parents are responsible for their kids ... not the gov't ... not the schools ... the parents .... when kids are truant ... does the state fine the teacher and principal ? no they fine the parent ....

8. 5 miles from the George H.W. Bush Library, that's S.O.P. |
|
It is just sickening. Yet the school kiddies get rounded up and bussed to the Bush Library and Museum for programs (indoctrination) all the time without a peep or permission slip required.
I was behind one of our truck driving folks today with the charming bumper sticker "I'm not racist, I hate his white half, too". Just lovely. DH is wishing we could move to nice Blue State where I would not be driving and ranting about the crazies that occupy our home town.

Indocrination maybe but no permission slip required? Not likely.
