PPP: Romney leads Perry in Florida--debate performance hurt Perry
A new Public Policy Polling survey in Florida finds Mitt Romney leading Rick Perry in the GOP presidential race, 30% to 24%, followed by Newt Gingrich at 10%. All other candidates are in the single digits.

Key finding: "We started this poll on Thursday night before the debate and in those interviews the race was neck and neck with Romney at 33% and Perry at 31%. But in interviews done Friday-Sunday Romney's lead expanded to double digits at 29-19. More telling might be what happened to Perry's favorability numbers after the debate -- on Thursday night he was at 63/23 with Florida Republicans. Friday-Sunday he was at 48/36. Perry's poor performance may or may not prove to be a game changer nationally but it definitely appears to have hurt his image in the key state where it occurred."

1. Too many NE Republicans in Florida
who don't want a dumber, more extreme BUSH, aka Perry. They probably also don't identify with the extreme social agenda of the far right either. Romney is seen as a more "moderate" Republican.

2. I wonder which Mitwit we'll see
if he does manage to become POTUS. I figure he'll be in the pocket of the corporations but I wonder how RW he'll be on social issues. Since the fundies seem to really dislike MOrmons I don't see him bending over backwards to advance an extreme social agenda.

Then again Mormons are pretty anti-gay. They dumped a ton of money in CA's Prop H8.

One things for sure - I won't be voting for him.

4. Me neither, but
what trumps everything else with the base, is that not only is Romney seen as a NE "liberal", but not even a real christian. No Republican that isn't an evangelical christian stands a chance in the primary and with their base.

That is OUR trump card in all this.

3. I didn't see any of the debates. What did he do to lose favor with the teabaggers?

6. The fact that Bachmann can only muster 15% in Ioway, one of several centers of Republican batshit
craziness, tells you how far she has fallen. Of course Bachmann,Perry and Paul together muster 41%, so Iowa's status as a center of Republican batshit craziness is safe for now.

7. that is a big blow to Bachmann who will fold sooner or later...
if she bows out I wonder who would get her supporters? I would think Perry more so than Romney. but then again maybe it will be Herman Cain.

He was even on radio today 9-28-11 still talking about how Perry is the rethugs Southern guy and no one else in the race is.What Ed is missing is yes the republican party has been taken over by the far right nuts and a lot of them are mainly in the South BUT a lot of them are older folks who are on Social Security and looked at Perry's statements and beliefs on this issue and said FUCK THIS GUY I'm not voting for someone who is going to take away my lively hood.
