I've had my grievances with Obama, as well I should |
|
If we don't push our politicians, some else will and they will get what they want. I push because I want accountability even from the Democrats. That being said, I am firmly committed to Obama winning 2012. I am not saying this to prove anything or to declare my new found love or fondess for him, but I think there are many like me and I am glad for that.
I hope he wins re-election and I will volunteer, contribute and do whatever I can to make this happen!

If he doesn't win, we'll be going the way of the do-do and the Roman Empire. Also the reason to pump up the numbers of House and Senate Dems. I'm already working on it, calling voters who voted by mail in previous elections, to remind them they have to renew their request for mail-in ballots. I'm scared to death of voter suppression. It's a given here in Florida.

11. Yes - I posted about the voter suppression the other day after |
|
I heard that SC had passed the pic-ID needed and that over 200,000 South Carolinians didn't have drivers licenses. Don't know how many have other forms of pic ID, but yikes!
Then I heard Denver is trying to pass something that ONLY those who voted in 2010 (and we know that's primarily Republicans) by mail in ballot can receive ballots for the 2012 election. WTF???
It's the voter suppression that scares me more than anything - almost more than voter fraud.

Well said!! :toast:
Voting is only step 1. Step 2 is staying on their asses and reminding them why they got your vote!

However, how do you push a man who has already given away the store |
|
And the money that has gone away, tens of trillions of dollars, is not going to return to us.
You might say, "Well, if we motivate Mr Obama, he'll fire Geithner."
But he cannot fire Geithner - he works for the man. Geithner said as much in a meeting of European banking and government officials last week.

9. So, are you saying he's accomplished nothing? |
|
Yeah, there have been some disappointments, but extraordinary accomplishments, too, especially considering the climate of 'hell no'. If we don't get our act together, you (we) will see what REAL disappointment is.

23. There is only ONE way: vote enough real Dems to Congress and... |
|
tell them to take the store BACK.
When they WILL have taken the store BACK, without the party of NO blocking it, tell them to send the bill to the President's DESK.
He will SIGN it smiling.
He will not 'need' nor 'want' any 'indy' votes in 2016...

The Democratic Party who guarantee that whenever a primary is coming up - if there is a strong, viable "progressive" candidate who will be facing off against a neo liberal con artist, the primary will be won buy the neo liberal con artist.
Rahm Emanuel used to be the Democratic Party's "go to" guy to see to it that the person who was for the people did not get Democratic funding, but the person that was a neo liberal with vested corporate interests got the go ahead.
And then there is the matter of Diane Feinstein, who has actually orchestrated losses to the governorship in order to help the Republicans win. But that "R" win helps her husband with his energy stock portfolio!

25. Understood - Then 'denounce' the big mucky muck$ in their districts. |
|
You know, flyers, bumper-stickers, local papers, letters to (thousands of) voters, etc.
Cuz on DU only, well, good luck with that (won't have much chance to change anything: Smaller, and fragmented, audience).
Agreed it's kinda 'harder' work, though.

We need to reelect the President, and we need to elect a Democratic House. Only those two things together can get us moving forward again.

|
ALL of us to unite and get active NOW!!
We can ill afford to be divided, especially over petty issues. We have to fight and that just how it is.
Thanks for your post.

i think this is the easiest way to alienate his base, and he does this pretty consistently himself. people want to know that he is taking their issues seriously as our his ardent base.

16. Of course I didn't mean to insinuate that but we do sometimes |
|
resort to name calling and ad hominem attacks. That's what I meant by petty. And the "we" is general, not referring to you or any one person. Nevertheless, I reiterate my larger point and that is that it's time for Democrats to unite. We're not each other's enemy. The enemy is the other side. We are on the same side.

22. I don't disagree with you at all. |
|
When I declined to vote for Bill Clinton (and Paul Wellstone) in 1996, I did vote for the other Democrats on the ballot who had not voted for DOMA (e.g., Martin Sabo).
This year I will be holding my nose and voting for Amy Klobuchar, will enthusiastically be voting for Keith Ellison, and tepidly voting for the state and local level DFL candidates.
