Another MISLEADING attack on the middle class
Edited on Sun Oct-02-11 10:02 AM by bigdarryl
All states don't have double dipping for Government retirees the article doesn't tell you that . I live in NJ where once double dipping was the norm about 10 to 15 years ago but now its against the law in our state to collect a retirement check and work for the state.I retired in June of this year after 25 years as a law enforcement Officer I went back to work part time as a security guard in a private company http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/10/02/government-paycheck-pensions_n_990988.html

1. I never understood the concern over double dippers.
So, one person works their butt off to work on 2 jobs. What's the big deal? You could do it too, if you wanted to work 2 jobs. Don't you think a lot of those congress-critters are double dippers?

Go to work in the federal government in DC and you will find out most of the federal employees there are double dippers. Some of those state and federal jobs pay so little that only double dippers can afford to take those jobs.

Boy the huffingtonpost sure has some real RepubliCON hate pieces up about government workers.

...article and premise is whack. Are they suggesting that if someone retires from the military and goes on to become a teacher, they're not eligible for their pension and paycheck?

What the hell difference does it make who's paying them to work: the government or a private company?

If they work, they should get paid. They earned their pensions.

It's another GOP assault on public employees: N.J. officials launch investigation into possible double-dipping by sheriff's officers (May 2011)

<...>

State Sen. Jennifer Beck (R-Monmouth), who earlier this year co-sponsored a bill that would prevent working public employees from simultaneously collecting pensions, said the situation in Essex, Union and Monmouth counties is indicative of a larger problem.

"There is an issue that is sort of eroding our pension system by allowing people to collect on their pensions so early in life," Beck said.
