It's just as idiotic as extreme right wingers calling every Democrat, including Obama, a Marxist.

5. ten years ago I would have agreed with you |
|
as the Republican Party shifts more and more to the right, I think an argument can be made that Mr. Williams has indeed become "typical" of your mainstream Republican. I know that the times I've done more than scratch the surface of most of the Republicans I know - the feelings expressed by Mr. Williams reside within. They just aren't expressed publicly.
The Republicans that you are no doubt thinking of are now calling themselves Democrats.

8. The average Republican is not a Tea Partier. |
|
The Republicans I know think the Tea Party folks are just plain nuts. The TP is the fringe of the Republican party and the Republican establishment is not happy with them. Their extremeness caused the party in 2010 two almost sure senate seats (CT & NV).

6. He absolutely IS typical, |
|
There really is no 'extremism' in the republican party, what was once the extreme is now the norm, he's mainstream.

7. No. I've never heard typical republicans (or any) refer to Obama as "Hitler". |
|
The redneck stupid is strong with that one. Safe to say he's not typical - lol.

I have Republican friends and we can have a reasonable argument about politics without it getting ignorant, stupid and personal.

He should have just said "Obama isn't Hitler if I'm going to lose money over it."

I used to run a politics chatroom which was about half republicans and half Democrats. When republicans were in the room as individuals, they could be reasoned with somewhat. The more of them that were in the room, the stupider they became collectively. They would try to out-shock each other by making stupid radical statements. Republicans suffer from a mob mentality as a group.
