CBS poll: Obama hasn't done enough, more blame Bush, Wall Street, want tax increase on millionaires
Poll: 7 in 10 say Obama has not helped economy

<...>

Sixty-nine percent say the president has not made real progress on the economy, which voters overwhelmingly cite as their most important issue. Twenty-five percent say he has made real progress.

Perceptions are not improving. The percentage who said Mr. Obama has made real progress has dropped 10 points from a survey 13 months ago, when 35 percent said he had made real progress.

Just 35 percent of Americans approve of Mr. Obama's handling of the economy, and his approval rating on the issue has been below 40 percent since February. Fifty-three percent approve of his handling of the economy.

Still, most don't blame the administration for the state of the economy. Asked who was most to blame, Americans cited the Bush administration (22 percent), followed by Wall Street (16 percent), Congress (15 percent) and then the Obama administration (12 percent.) One in 10 said "all of the above."

<...>

Note: Bush and Wall Street garner 38 percent of the blame compare to Obama's 12 percent. In fact, more blame Wall Street than Obama.

While massive protests against Wall Street have exploded nationwide, public opinion is on Obama's side.

Poll: Most want taxes on millionaires increased

Most Americans believe that taxes on millionaires should be increased in order to reduce the deficit, according to a new CBS News poll.

Sixty-four percent of Americans said they believe those making a million dollars or more in taxes should pay more. Thirty percent said taxes on such individuals should not be increased. Democrats were extremely likely to support such an increase (83 percent did so), and independents also supported it, 65 percent to 28 percent. On the other side, 54 percent of Republicans opposed such an increase, while 40 percent supported it.

President Obama has proposed a tax increase on those making a million dollars per year or more as part of his deficit reduction plan - the so-called "Buffett Rule" - an idea Republicans deride as "class warfare."

2. Independents want taxes raised by 65% yet some dumb Dems think they'll lose Indy votes if they do.
Stupid 'advisers' like Mark Penn have been all over making the case that taxes CANNOT be raised on the rich or Dems will lose the center and Independents. The polls prove him WRONG, but, that won't stop him from claiming his polls know better. Dumbass Clintonite leftover who wants Dems to be just like GOP on all economic issues. Yeah...like GOP policies have worked so well the last 10 years.

22. Well Obama's problem began when he sided with Liebermann
in his re-election fight. Progressives/liberals wanted to punish him and make an example of him. But Obama naively saved his ass and has then made Dem legislators stubborn in their disagreements with him and the leadership. If Dems are not of afraid of him, how in the world will rethugs be?

8. Sounds like Penn has been advising Obama
Why would anyone put any weight on an unemployed campaign advisor? Because he once worked for a Clinton?

Stupid.

I did not and do no approve of it, and I will rant about it until it goes away.

My goal is a Democratic president that does not implement GOP economic policies.

Why do you refuse to acknowledge bad political moves? What is your goal?

14. They don't want to know.....
Including some here.

That would make things too difficult to understand,
and it would make One Man not as blameworthy,
and we couldn't have that....cause we need to lose
in 2012, for whatever folks' reason....some see a revolution that
is coming, where the opposition are the ones with the guns,
but somehow, we will win the day and get to call the shots...or some bullshit like that. :eyes:

16. If things keep going the way they have been the last 30 years
There will be a very abrupt pendulum swing to the left.

I do not share your fear of republican yahoos with guns. They are all noise and bluster, they can barely get 15 people to show up at a rally. Corporate fear mongering.

18. Raising taxes on millionaires is always a polling winner...
..yet tends not to translate very well on election day.

Also, the worst part of this poll and what Obama is really fighting against:

"Asked the most effective way for the government to get the economy moving, nearly half (47 percent) chose cutting taxes to encourage investment. Fewer - 37 percent - preferred spending more money to create jobs."

People are still focused on the deficit instead of understanding we need additional stimulus for the economy. The President fell into this trap and is going to need to reverse these attitudes.

Between this and the WV gubernatorial race giving the Democrats a win, it's been a good day.

21. Here is another way to spin that same poll. "Opposition to Obama grows — strongly."
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/the-fix/post/opposition-to-obama-grows--strongly/2011/10/04/gIQAlch2ML_blog.html

Four in 10 Americans “strongly” disapprove of how President Obama is handling the job of president in the new Washington Post-ABC News poll, the highest that number has risen during his time in office and a sign of the hardening opposition to him as he seeks a second term.

While the topline numbers are troubling enough, dig deeper into them and the news gets no better for Obama. Forty-three percent of independents — a group the president spent the better part of the last year courting — strongly disapprove of the job he is doing. Forty-seven percent of people 65 years of age and older — reliable voters in any election — strongly disapprove of how he is doing his job.

As is usually the case with polls, it is possible to spin the results in different ways depending on what your agenda is.
