2. When are they going to give the reporters a microphone? |
|
Not just this presser, but every time they have one all we can hear are the replies to barely audible questions. It leaves viewers to decide on their own what they're talking about.
Having said that, I changed the channel even sooner than usual on this one.

Chris Christie STILL Not Running For President!
I know. It's fucking ridiculous. He'll probably run. He is a republican after all and we all know that pretty much anything they say is a lie. "I'm not running for president" is sure to mean the opposite coming out of his mouth.

5. They gave him 43 MINUTES |
|
I don't think they gave John Kerry 40 minutes plus as OUR NOMINEE outside of his convention. Obama might have gotten that much when he announced and for his race speech. I don't think Hillary got 40 plus minutes.

Holy crap. I wish the media would call me. I'm sure I can come up with something for them to do if all they're doing is covering a campaign that doesn't exist.

11. 43 minutes to say "I'm not running." |
|
Maybe those will be Christie's last 43 minutes in the national spotlight. He won't have an opportunity in 2016, imo. He will be yesterday's news by then.

The first decision he has to make is whether to run for re-election in 2013. You would think if he ran and lost - a very possible event, you would think that would dim his chances. However, if he opts not to run - as Romney did in 2006, it gives him nearly 3 years before the election - during which he has no official position.
However, even though he spoke of his economic record being good, if you look at it in any detail - it isn't. I have posted a comparison to MA in terms of unemployment - because MA and NJ share a lot in common - except the party of the Governor. In Christie's case, the unemployment rate that went down over 2010 (when the budget passed under Corzine was in effect), but in 2011, it has risen back to close where to almost as high as 2009. Christie is speaking of this as unemployment going down under his watch - technically true, but not for the time where his policies were in place. MA, meanwhile has seen its rate decrease in 2011 and even in the last month available it is decreasing.
This may not stop him from running - and to be fair, many Governors win by talking a good game. Both Clinton and Bush had little to really brag about from their tenure as Governor. Yet, I know I believed Clinton's book - and though I worked with statistics did not bother to check out things that could be measured - ie Clinton's education initiatives sounded good, but Arkansas which was at the bottom in achievement scores before he was in office was still at the bottom.
