Christie will be elected president in 2016.
I don't agree with his policies at all, but his straight-talking, no talking points style will win over independents and give him the White House in 2017. Obama should win in 2012 considering the weakness of the GOP field and the popularity of the American Jobs Act.

Just a hunch. What do you think?

16. No, just the sort of "when Niagara falls" statement
I just don't think these flavors du jour have any lasting impact. People need to turn off the chatter networks, because in the real world, Christie is not a factor and nobody in his own state even seems to like him.

6. Me too, don't get me wrong.
Warren would be an excellent choice for president.

Christie just reminds me of a person like Bush or Reagan that will win over independents. Then again, I felt that way about Perry, too. Then he started talking and now there's no chance in hell he'll get to the White House.

24. Which a heavier Taft managed to do for 24 years past Christie's age
with much more primitive medicine, a longer tenure in more stressful jobs, and less awareness.

Cyril Smith, a high profile British MP, died of a non-weight related cancer at 82 not too long ago. He weighed 420lbs most of his life.

Meanwhile we have the Steve Larsens and Jim Fixxs who drop dead in middle age while jogging daily. It's a crapshoot, pure and simple.

27. My first post was almost ... "If he lives that long". But that seemed mean ...
But it is accurate.

The guy needed a limo to drive him 100 yards??

I'm entering my late 40s, somewhat overweight, and I have 2 knees that barely work ... and even I can walk that far, actually much farther.

The point though is ... "What will be his health status in 2016?"

I worry about what MY health status will be in 5 years ... I can only imagine where he'll be health wise in 5 years.

And in the 4 years that follow.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/chris-christies-big-problem/2011/09/29/gIQAAL7J8K_story.html

The guy also was hospitalized recently for "breathing problems". Not to mention that he has an admitted temper problem, which can wreak havoc on one's blood pressure. It's not "mean" to question if the guy's body can hold out that long, considering that.

I also KNOW that women detest Christie (as polls have shown) because he has acted like a damned bully since coming into office. I also know that he holds one heck of a lot of moderate views that are anathema to RWers yet enough etreme RW views to be anathema to Dems and many or even most independents.

I also know that unless he gets his weight and and associated health issues (e.g., at a minimum, asthma-- more likely, hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, strong risk for type II diabetes) under control, he may well be at risk (statistically) of not even being here in four years.

"Christie will be elected president in 2016."

...this asshole did his best yesterday to kill the MSM noise and you're trying to keep it going?

Christie "straight-talking, no talking points style" is destroying NJ's public sector, increasing unemployment, annihilating property tax rebates (the lie that he used to fool NJ voters), raising property taxes, giving tax cuts to the rich and engaging in cronyism.

That's not to mention his use of the state helicopter to attend his kid's game and going on vacation during a snow emergency.

He has is a typical Republican hypocrite

http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/2011/09/gov_chris_christies_approval_i.html

Gov. Chris Christie's approval rating has increased dramatically since he signed the pension and health benefit overhaul for public workers and publicly led the state through Hurricane Irene.

A Fairleigh Dickinson University PublicMind poll released this morning shows 54 percent of New Jersey voters approve of Christie's performance, while 36 percent disapprove. That's up from a 44 percent even split in May.

59. It all depends on what happens in 2012.
If Obama loses and Romney or Perry take over, life for most will get much worse and Republicans will be ousted in 2016. If Obama wins - and I expect he will - and the jobs/economy doesn't improve much, Christie would have a very good chance in 2016. On the other hand, if things start looking up and we have a great candidate in 2016 he can be beaten. We need to start thinking about who we'd like to see running in 2016.

74. If the republicans really want this guy to be president...
...they will have to leave a trail of these...

...leading to the porch of the White House.

75. I still say 2016 likely belongs to Hillary

Yeah, I know she said she wasn't running, but they all say that 4 years out.

82. Even though she's saying no right now, she's a more viable choice than Warren.
Elizabeth Warren hasn't even been elected senator yet and people already want her to run for president? Please, we already had a rookie in 2008 and look how well things turned out.

81. Republicans have stronger potential candidates than Christie,
and they were all smart enough not to try to run against President Obama. John Thune, Bob McDonnell and Jeb Bush are all more likely to be the 2016 nominee than Chris Christie.

83. It'll probably be a Republican, I'm just no so convinced that it'll be Christie.
If Obama wins reelection in 2012, the country will be ready for a change in 2016 after 8 years of Democratic rule.

85. Zero chance, and here's why:
http://www.theawl.com/2011/09/the-chris-christie-madoff-attack-ad-that-writes-itself
Before he was flying in state helicopters to his kid's baseball games, Christie was flying on private jets as part of the law firm Dughi, Hewit & Palatucci, for whom, as a lobbyist, the future governor fought for the rights of Wall Street. In fact, one of Christie's primary lobbying projects on behalf of Wall Street was to win an exemption for securities fraud from New Jersey's Consumer Fraud Act. For those Americans whose 401(k)s have been gouged in the last few years, that won't play well. (The only reason this wasn't much of an issue in his gubernatorial campaign was because his opponent was Jon Corzine, who sucked off Wall Street's teat with even more gusto than Christie.)

But it gets worse for Christie.

In a detail that practically writes its own commercial script, the Wall Street client on whose behalf Christie lobbied was the Securities Industry Association. Which, at that time, was led by one Mr. Bernard Madoff.

The bottom line for Obama's communication team: As a lobbyist, Chris Christie worked to remove securities fraud from a consumer fraud act on behalf of an organization run by Bernie Madoff.

It's exactly the kind of scandal that's easy to understand no matter who you are, involves a universally despised villain who has come to represent all the illegality of the 2008 market collapse, and it would be devastating to Christie in much-needed Florida.
