Poll question: True or Flalse: Do you remain a strong supporter of Obama |
|
Just trying to see if there's a difference between age groups.

I'm thinking that each age group has its own idea of liberalism (depending if they came of age during Kennedy/Johnson, Carter, Reagan, Clinton, or Bush), so may have different opinions of Obama because of that.

But figure just about everyone in DU is fairly liberal especially relative to these times of tea baggers.

6. by combining "no longer" with "never was" will negate the ability to assess the results. |
|
That is a significant difference, IMO.

... had to work with the limitations of the interface. I'm not trying to be scientific here, just getting an overall impression, and I think it may provide that simply by looking at how each age group answers.

18. In the interest of data accuracy |
|
I was a rabid supporter of The President. His actions since taking office have turned me against Prez. Obama.
I want him to face a number of primary contenders; I want him to answer why every "stimulus" bill he passes has hundreds of millions in tax cuts for the rich and for corporations (including his current "jobs" bill). I want him to answer why he bailed out the banks lightning fast and gave them access to $16 Trillion in almost zero interest and unlimited lines of credit while doing not one single damn thing to help good hard working families keep their homes.
If I am not mistaken, Obama has given far more tax credits to the rich than ANY previous president. I want him to answer why.
Primary Obama!!!

What is a "strong supporter?" Is your question "are you gonna vote for this guy," which is the only "support" that matters? I'm sure there are a lot of people, of many different ages, who are far from "strong supporters" but are going to vote for him anyway.
And as already mentioned, "don't support him any more/never have supported him" is two distinct categories in one.

... But, most polls are subjective. For instance, Do you support Obama? What does support mean? Are you a liberal? What does liberal mean? I figure that if each age group interprets the poll with equal inconsistency, then the poll results will mean something. If you want a scientific poll, then DU is not a good place for any poll, since it only polls DU members, the demographics of whom we can only speculate on. Also, I wasn't trying to find out if people are going to vote for him. That wasn't the point. If that's what you're looking for, post your own poll.

8. I was a Kucinich guy during the primaries |
|
But I then became an Obama supporter when Kucinich dropped out. But I can become a strong Obama supporter if he decides to do the right thing for the people like ending the wars and taking a chain saw to the defense budget.

11. Obama just doesn't have the popular support to win again. |
|
Democrats are largely disillusioned by and disenchanted with him, Repubilcans are taught to hate him. He doesn't have enough popular support. The Democratic party needs to find someone else, and fast, to replace him or else they face another Carter-like loss. Sorry.

14. Don't believe that you speak for all Democrats or Liberals. |
|
Most are still Obama supporters. Just not some vocal DUers, who are working very hard to disillusion Ds so they are too "unenthusiastic" to vote.
You have to be ENTHUSIASTIC to cast your vote against TPers, who will destroy the country. Personally, I will gladly vote FOR Obato his family.

34. ~80% of liberal Democrats approve of Obama's job performance. |
|
Here on DU it's barely a majority if that.
DU has little to do with the real world, not least because the irrational screamers and the paid disinformers have driven away so many of the rational people.

39. He polls consistently around 75-80% job approval among Libs/Dems |
|
His personal likability ratings are high.
He polls consistently higher than the GOP when it comes to being trusted to help the average person.
Translation: Things have been bad, but people generally know it's not his fault and believe he's trying to fix it.
DU isn't aligned with the national mood.
A recent poll done in Vermont shows that the President handily beats both Bernie Sanders and Howard Dean in a primary.
Who is going to mount this challenge?

would only work if everyone who's a member is voting, which is impossible plus I'm sure it doesn't account for a lot of other factors.

15. You should have separated the "no longers" from the "never was" |
|
Many who never supported Obama are now pretending as if they are actually disillusioned supporters rather than people who didn't like Obama to begin with. They think it gives their arguments more traction.
