<...>

  • President Obama gets 44 percent to Romney's 45 percent;
  • Obama gets 45 percent to Cain's 43 percent;
  • Obama leads Perry 47 - 42 percent.
Obama and his GOP opponents do equally well among their own party members, but independent voters go to Romney 48 - 39 percent over Obama and back Cain 45 - 39 percent over the president. Obama gets 44 percent of independent voters to Perry's 43 percent.

There is a gender gap in each race. Women back Obama:

"The good news for President Barack Obama in Virginia is that he isn't losing match-ups against any of the three leading Republican candidates," said Brown. "The bad news for him is that he is viewed unfavorably by 49 percent of Virginians and favorably by only 45 percent. Moreover, Virginia voters say 51 - 44 percent that Obama does not deserve re-election.

5. Well
"after 30 years in the Commonwealth.... there's 0% chance of Obama carrying VA in '12..."

...it's possible that you could be wrong. Who's your candidate? Since you're making predictions, who do you think will win?

6. A few districts in Richmond? In 2008 he got 79% of the vote in Richmond,
71% in Norfolk, 69% in hampton Roads, 64% in Newport News, and lost Virginia Beach by less than 1%.

2. These numbers should keep improving once Pres. Obama campaigns in earnest v. the GOP nominee.

Right now, there is no there there to Romney, Perry, etc. beyond what voters are projecting onto them. Just wait until Team Obama gets through defining them.

3. Exactly....right now is all too generic.
The public knows all of Obama's good and bad....they still generally know very little about the specific platforms of those Presidential hopefuls.
