Look I really do get it …
Edited on Wed Oct-12-11 11:06 AM by Cigar11
I honestly do understand why the GOP wants little to low or no Taxes on the Wealthy, lower Taxes on the Business and less Regulations on Business. It policy actually works wonders for anyone who is independently Wealthy and or Senior Officer in a large Corporation. Over the last decade this policies worked really well if you fall under any of these categories, all you need to do is research the positive results. Hell …. I can clearly see why they give huge amounts of money to Conservative Candidates; these Policies really do work! They are more powerful now that they were more than a decade ago.

But for the life of me I can’t understand why any Conservative whose income is below $500k benefits from these policies? I’ve yet to find one Conservative Republican who can explain to me what they personally get out of the GOP Tax Less / Regulate Less / Less Government policies?

Can someone tell me what?

2. They are of the "team" mentality
rah, rah, our team won, our guy is better than yours... bullshit

Then there are the "values" voters who would vote for the Devil if he said he was "pro life" (which of course he would be, so he would have more souls to collect).

3. The Libertarian philosophy does work in an ideal world
They think they could get fabulously rich if those restrictions just weren't there. And maybe they could. There are businesses one can think of but not have the capital to go into, due to having to file with the SEC say, or comply with many regulations.

But then in that world, the frauds could do anything they liked, and the idiots do not appreciate that they are likely to be the ones taken advantage of just as well as being the ones who get rich.

The Invisible Hand works perfectly, in an ideal world where everyone does the smart thing. But real people do stupid things and try to take advantage of others, so some regulation is needed.

10. They always say liberals are the naive ones, but libertarians...
are EXTRAORDINARILY naive, imho.

As you said, their philosophy works in an ideal world, with very few people.

4. I think the benefits go well below 500,000 income
I think for most upper middle class people, if they looked strictly at their own personal bottom line they would benefit from GOP policies. If they're Democrats, it's because they're concerned about their community as well.

6. Less Taxes without customers is less revenue ...
I have friends who are Business Owners, both Democrat and Republicans, and both overwhelmingly agree that lower Taxes maybe good good, but Customers are far better. You can give them all the Tax Breaks you want, but if no one has money to buy their product in a economy that doesn’t care about the purchasing power if the Middle-Class, then everyone will eventually net less revenue.

5. The will say anything to get rid
of a president whose skin just happens to be black. I have to wonder how they would feel if his skin turned out to be more like his mother's. They were telling the truth when they said they wanted him to be a one-term president.

9. Many of them are "wannabes"
They think that, one day, they too will be filthy rich. And, there's no way they're going to part with some of those hard-earned lottery winnings in order to help all those lazy parasites who are poor.

There is also a large contingent who were suckered in by social issues, like abortion and gay rights. They vote that way because their pastor told them to.
