Obama raises more than $70 million
By KEN THOMAS
Associated Press

WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Barack Obama's campaign says he raised more than $70 million combined for his re-election and the Democratic party during the summer.

The amount exceeds a goal set by the campaign of $55 million combined for the July-September fundraising period but is about $16 million less than Obama raised during the first fundraising quarter of his re-election campaign.

The smaller fundraising haul shows the challenges Obama faces with declining poll numbers and a weak economy, which prompted the president to recently call himself the "underdog."

Obama campaign manager Jim Messina said Thursday that more than 600,000 people donated to the campaign in the most recent quarter, more than the previous three months

1. $70 million..............
Obviously, there are a lot of people NOT hurting in this country!
Gee, that would feed a lot of hungry people, but of course one
must get elected first in order to offer hope and change to the people.

8. It doesn't matter how much Obama raised, he'll lose next year because of pot raids.
Why the hell is Obama all of a sudden coming down so hard on medical marijuana dispensaries in California?

"Four U.S. Attorneys gathered to announce ultimatums delivered to at least 38 dispensaries throughout the state."

Declaring that "Federal law took precedence over state law and applies regardless of the particular uses for which a dispensary is selling and distributing marijuana",
they told proprietors "they just don't give a damn what laws California has enacted and whether their dispensaries are in compliance with local municipal ordinances or not"

"We are the kings", they said, "and you shall do our bidding, or go directly to jail. Do not pass Go, Do not collect $200".

To them it was a game; and they were the game makers.

"The position is a 180-degree reversal from the Obama Administration's optimistic and inaugural promises that those dispensaries which were in compliance with state law, could operate without fear of federal intrusion.
