Ron Paul would cut science & research funding.

...would eliminate five federal departments: Energy, Commerce, Interior, Education, and Housing and Urban Development. In one fell swoop, such a step would erase, among other programs, the Energy Department's $5-billion Office of Science, the $4.5-billion National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the $750-million National Institute of Standards and Technology, and the $1.1-billion U.S. Geological Survey.

"Paul would also end funding for all research programs at the U.S. Department of Agriculture, although the department itself would be preserved at its current budget. And he would pare roughly $7 billion from the current $30-billion budget for the National Institutes of Health within the Department of Health and Human Services."

I now have something to bring up with the obnoxious End-the-Fed Libertarians who have a tent at OccupyPhilly.

4. Though in Ron Paul's case I don't think his views are based in religion.
He just seems to think that freedom means every man for himself and the government should have no part in helping out anyone for any reason.

6. he believes freedom means every MAN for himself, women not so much
He's anti-choice to the extreme. I was surprised, him being a libertarian and all I thought he would not want the gov't interfering in the choices women make regarding their health.

Oh, if only men got preggers...

though that never seems to bother these types of people. Do they just expect that things will just remain the same ad infinitum? These people aren't "conservative", they're frozen in ember, which may be fine for them personally but they shouldn't be allowed to drag the rest of us along with them. Not all of us want a stagnant society/culture IMHO. Actually, I'm willing to bet that most of us don't. A society that doesn't evolve can't survive forever IMHO.

5. I'm sure the Gulf Coast wouldn't miss NOAA during hurricane season!
California doesn't need the US Geological Survey ... no earthquake threat there ...
